Encryption For Your Privacy

I recently made a GPG key for encrypted email purposes. I had been using plaintext email for the longest time, but I finally made the jump and am pleased with how easy it has gotten using Thunderbird and Enigmail with GPG.

But the problem lies in people not wanting to put in the effort to protect themselves. I deal with artists all the time who send out possible "obscene" material over email and non-private channels. Take a step back for a second and realize how damaging it could be to someone if what they loved doing could be used against them, simply because it's "disgusting" and "wrong"!

I think one should try encrypted email or a verifiable program like GNU Ring(it's making progress, okay!) at least once or twice to see and judge them for themselves.

That's all for now.

Why I use Proton Mail for transferring stories/art, or Telegram in encrypted mode >:D

The problem with Protonmail is that it relies on nonfree Javascript to function. Not only that, but they don't have a way to use gpg keyys with the mail client last I checked. We can't verify for sure they aren't logging it either, and end-to-end encryption can't be assured. Telegram relies on a phone number, and it's crypto implementation was made in-house, if I remember right.

GNU Ring, as an alternative to these, is a decentralized platform for secure and encrypted communication as it's priority. All the code is free software(libre) and auditable, verifiable, and you can share it with anyone. It's got a way to go before it's running great for everyone, but I'd trust it over Skype, Kik, or any other "secure" chat thing that won't show me the code
