Sonic Lost World, Wii-U vs. 3DS

WARNING! THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!

Some time ago I checked out a journal by sonictopfan concerning Sonic Colors for DS being better than the Wii version. Afterward I decided to see if the same was true for Lost World, this time though the results seems debatable.

In this game Sonic faces Dr. Eggman and debuting villain gang "The Deadly Six" a team of demonesque creatures called zeti. But the zeti rebel and take command over Eggman's robots and his latest take-over scheme, forcing Sonic and Eggman to team up. In both games you traverse 3-d and side scrolling landscapes, utilize new parkour moves, and power up with new Wisps along with some old ones. One being in both and each console having two unique ones. Some moves can be tricky though and the plot's smoothness is bumpy.

Wii-U
has more cutscenes which help explain some bits of the story, however you cant replay any of them

New wisps are Indigo Asteroid, Crimson Eagle, and Magenta Rhythm. the first two are tricky to use though. theres also a Black Bomb but I never got it, and unless I’m missing something its could only be obtained through Mii-verse which is no more

you encounter the Deadly Six three times a zeti, not only with robots but they also exhibit their own unique powers. plus the battles are all varying.

you need to collect a certain number of animals to access the boss battles. Tip, you can get more though bonus circus mini games though you get one chance per tent.

Dunno if anyone else experienced this, but now that miiverse is gone you get a “Cant access the Miiverse” everytime to finish a level or access the level map

Gotta lose like 5 lives before the wing powerup appears to jump ya ahead with no challenge

3DS
some cutscenes are missing leaving some bits confusing. But you can replay them

new wisps are Indigo Asteroid, Ivory Lightning, and Grey Quake. Asteroid is a bit easier to wield in this version

you face the Deadly Six twice a zeti, however the 2nd battles are the same as the firsts.

no need to get set numbers of critters to access the bosses

special stages available to collect Chaos Emeralds, but no bonus level like Colors according to site research, I couldn’t collect them all as ya gotta move by tilting the console and turning your body left and right. Ya gotta do this in other areas to and its major difficult.

when you die one or twice an RC vehicle (courtesy of Tails) appears to help get ya through certain areas leaving a bit of challenge, though it can cause issues to your homing attack if you aint careful.

Well there ya have it. I may be forgetting a thing or two but lets not cause anymore spoilers. All the same they’re all right games, not too bad but not all that great. Frankly I enjoyed both and found em an occasional good way to pass the time, even if it may frustrate me along the way.

Interesting journal, you hit most of the main points anyway, I'd like to point out to one other benifit the 3DS game has over the WiiU version and that is you inlock Super Sonic upon collecting the chaos emeralds, this is important as skilled players (of which what I did) get rewarded of having Super Sonic in levels during the first playthrough if they get all chaos emeralds fast enough, making the later levels easier, the WiiU version does what Sonic Volors Wii does and have you collect all red rings before you unlock Super Sonic, which means by the time you finally get it you pretty much completed the game making it recundant, also 3DS version rewards your effort collecting red rings with an extra fifth act per zone, they're more challenging acts but they're there shall you feel like playing them.

ah yes, guess i shoulda mentioned Super Sonic. and is that true about the red rings in 3ds? they're so hard to collect. then again it wouldn't be a challenging game i guess

It's true, why would I tell you something that isn't true? lol, I unlocked all the extra levels, normal mode only, I'm tellin' ya it wasn't easy, but that is one of the downsides of the 3DS version imo, the difficulty, if you play it normally it's decent enough but if you aim to complete it 100% you're on for a nightmare, it remains one of the very rare Sonic games I couldn't 100% because of the hard mode and getting all S rank which is heavily reliant on collecting rings.

ah, gotta be a master to achieve that i'll bet

I guess, I mean beating hard mode alone is difficult enough but to get an S rank in all of them including the extra levels unlocked via collecting the red rings kinda threw me off, as the Completionest would put it, this is one game that I'd give a rating as "finish it", it's quite good for what it is but they kinda went over the top with the secrets and unlockables.

i'll take your word for it
