So the other day I kind of had one of my nightmares realized: my cintiq's control box fried itself, sparks smoke and what looked like fire and everything. This is the result of that:
Now, I think I might be able to repair it after looking though it all, but it's going to take a while to receive the replacement bits. This sort of puts me out of work for the time being, and I'm hating it entirely. However, I do have an old Intuos4 tablet that still seems to work, but I've lost the stylus for it, and the cintiq's stylus is incompatible.
So I have a sort of desperate proposition: If I were to offer some emergency commissions, would anyone be interested? The main issue with this is that I'd need to get the payment upfront, which is something I usually *hate* doing. But, I can't actually do any work on them until I get a replacement stylus, which is what I need to do these commissions to obtain.
I understand entirely if anyone is really hesitant about this proposal, it does kind of seem like a risky venture. This would allow my to at least continue working until the Cintiq is back up and running.. Or, should the repair not work at all, should allow me to continue working period.
If anyone is interested, I would only need a few of them. They would just be simple $20 1-2 character, colored and cleaned sketches. Something along the lines of these:
