Back in France

by
Our last days in Canada have been unventful, mostly hanging around and such.

The return trip wasn't. After a quick fear when we had mistaken our departure hour, we got in time at the airport. Sadly, Mommy's flight from Paris to Aberdeen had been cancelled (as also was my train from Paris to Dijon) and we wanted to solve that ASAP. For my train, no way of dealing with it until reaching France, for the plane, sadly, the company she flew on originally had no ticketing service in the Montreal airport (sound a bit fishy to me) and would only deal with it through phone. Nice when you are going on a plane a few minutes later. We left Grampa to handle it on the phone.

Flight from Montreal to Toronto had no problems, Toronto to France didn't started well with slow getting in, then the mobile platform stopping working, forcing us to wait for someone to fix it (it didn't took 5 minutes contrary to what the pilot said) and finally despite arriving early in Paris, we couldn't get down because the airport wasn't ready. Which was stressfull, since we have gotten back news for the Aberdeen flight : it would be leaving Paris two hours after we landed in France, and we had to get back our luggage and check Mommy's back in and go through immigration and security since it was considered a new flight and not a connecting one. We did it on time, but we had little time for good byes.

The good news is that we wouldn't have to wait 12 hours in the airport like our previous arrangements, so I headed to the train station thinking I would get home way earlier. Sadly, it was not meant to be. I got to the Airport train station, bloated because of the train strike. The people here didn't wanted to deal with me because all trains going from here to my town had been cancelled and they couldn't get (or didn't wanted to try) to get the info from the other train station that had trains for my home. So I had to take the subway (overcrowded despite not being rush hour because of the strike) and headed to the Gare de Lyon train station from where they should still be trains going to Dijon. I was torn by panic attacks when I asked one of the workers here to deal with the strike problems to help me. She screwed me over because she wasn't skilled, making me pay double my original train ticket when I should have paid 0 and wasn't helpful much. The fact I had traveled for one hour before getting to see trains also made that all trains before 4 pm were all either canceled or full. I was off for a 6 hours wait. I later asked another of the train station worker, who thought I was an idiot that didn't understand the system... and finally a 4th one who reimbursed me my first train ticket (but couldn't the second one, so still lost money) and told me I was right all along and all his predecessors did a bad job... he told me I could fill a complaint, but I shouldn't hope for anything. I told him I had in the past and knew I wasn't going to get anything. Being in the right doesn't make big companies pay you back when you can'g go to a court because it would cost more than what you are suing for.

Got home 30 minutes before my father, who took the train just after me (they were still room in mine, glad he didn't attempted to change tickets... but that also means previous trains likely had some too, I should have tried to climb him in a previous one anyway...). Just left me time to hide baby stuff enough for my parents to not see them when they arrive and hide it fully later on. They got annoyed I didn't had much pictures or things to share about my trip, but I prefer not. Otherwise, I think I'm doing good with jetlag (what little sleep I got on the plane and train helped) but the illness I got at Tomkat got way worse. I'm not looking forward to going back to work.

Here are a few pictures from the trip :

Traveling is hard. Gotta go with the flow sometimes.

I'm uptight and worry too much, so traveling is always stressful for me as well.

I have social anxiety and I know how bad people mess up... and I'm usually right

Everything messes up, not just people.
But I agree, I'm usually worried that something is going to go wrong, and usually something does.

Though, a lot of times, the stress of worrying is worse than whatever problems arise (except when a flight gets cancelled and really buggers everything up).

Technical problems are way more limited than human stupidity... my trains problems were all human stupidity. Made me lost 6 hours.
