Still a Toys R Us kid(?)

To anyone unaware, there are still some stores running. One such location was in a town over from where I live. Although I've visited it a couple times before, today was when the last trip happened. Some months prior, there was a decent selection of products. The selection during my final visit has dwindled a lot. I was hoping to add more stuffed pokemon toys to my collection or get a lego(and similar product) set at a decent price. Guess I missed out and was stuck with bottom of the barrel and deeper products. I should also mention that there was a section littered with an ass ton of skylanders stuff(good luck moving all that crap). I could make a full fledged constipation joke regarding what the store had, but that would be a waste. What little was left of lego and not lego products were a ton of blind bags and some boxes of bricks. There was fortunately a decent selection of my little pony products but good luck explaining your reason for buying those. As for the store itself, while it used to have a resemblance of life during a previous visit, it definitely started to show a sense of decay when I was there. The section that used to have games and electronics was taped off like some crime happened. Other sections and shelves had the same caution tape as well. Thanks to this, games were relegated to other shelves(which had a poor selection like some other products). I dunno if trash being left is expected in dying stores or even living stores, but that was something I saw. Since I didn't want to leave empty handed and make the trip less worth while, what did I get while I was there? There was a "limited edition" pokeball with a meloetta figurine. The other thing I got was a nerf gun(or blaster for the easily offended). It wasn't a super large one or anything super crazy, but it did have a foam circular saw attached. I probably wouldn't have bothered getting either normally if it weren't for the sale price. My mom also got some stuff for my younger cousins but that's neither here nor there. I had to satisfy the urge to add to my stuffed pokemon collection with a walmart trip some time after. Which meant full price for the damn thing. Ech! Although the final trip was pretty anti climatic, I still feel for those who had more history with the store than I did. I also forgot to take a "commemorative selfie" for this moment but I'm not into them anyway. I also hope the employees are able to find new employment opportunities. Seeing a business go after so many years of operation can be sad. It can also be a learning opportunity. I just hope that the big stores in business still don't become more anti-consumer as time goes by. Anyway, I bet the scalpers are having a field day with the store exclusive products. Good thing I got what I want before the online shop went down for good. If you have stories of your own, share it here or link me to where you told your story.
