New Smaller Print Size Added - 5.5" x 8.5"

Hi everyone

We have just discussed the print sizes with our provider and they have agreed to make available a 5.5" x 8.5" print. This is exactly half of the smallest size we previously had.

5.5" x 8.5" is about half of a magazine size page. The minimum pixel dimensions of this new size are 1650 x 2550. Anyone who tried to upload images for sale as prints before and found their work was too small might have better luck with this new size!

Everyone who has prints up for sale already has had the 5.5" x 8.5" print size activated automatically on those prints, so you don't need to go and turn it on. You can turn it off if for some reason you don't want people buying your prints at that size.

Whee!

You should really add a larger size. Personally I enjoy large format prints (think poster size). A site I've used before called Vistaprint does posters and I don't think they care what you print (not sure) but they do up to 11.50" x 17.50" (that's 2012 x 3062 pixels).

Price wise it's less expensive the more you order at a time (like usual). So it ranges from $8 (1 at a time) to $2 (50+ at a time).

If you think that could be useful, here's the link: http://goo.gl/tJDH

The sizes we already offer are:

5.5" x 8.5"
8.5" x 11"
18" x 24"
24" x 36"

But it depends on how big the artists work is. It has to fill those sizes at 300dpi for them to be able to offer it for a given submission.

Oh, I just hadn't seen those options available for any artwork yet. o.o;

What are the prices, btw?

The price depends on what the artists chooses as the markup! :P But if you go to "Create" and then go to the first page of a Sales upload, scroll down to see the base prices for all the print sizes.

Ah, thanks. :3

Hmm... I think it says it's okay in the TOS but I'll just ask to be sure: Can I pay an artist to draw me something that I can sell here? Like a 'ghostwriter' but in this case a "ghostartist".

Sure! Even if you pay for a commission or anything else you still need the original artist's permission to sell the item. But otherwise it's fine. :P

Btw, would Wuffamute like an invite to IB? :3

Hmm.. right now his computer isn't exactly working, so maybe not right now. Plus he's kinda uncomfy about cub stuff (I know that's not all that's on here, but the majority of it is right now), so maybe later :p

Yeah we're trying to get more non-cub stuff on.. I really want this site to be balanced. That's why we'd love him to join us here! He can filter out cub art very easily, and add to the non-cub payload of arts. :3

Let's revisit that when his new computer comes in and he's not doing everything on an underpowered laptop. o_o;

Hmm. Looks like my art cards are gonna have to be four-packs. I'll go ahead and give those a shot. :3

Is there a standard card size? There's a chance we could get the printer to do even smaller sizes and maybe even double sided if it's something that would be done frequently!

ATCs are baseball card-sized at 2.5" x 3.5". There really aren't many printing services that will go that small without volume runs and extra cutting charges, as such a method requires a different style of printer from what most print houses work with.

Ahh yeah I see. Hmm well the idea of putting a while lot on one bigger print size still isn't bad. ^^

Considering they'd only go for a couple bucks a pop... yeah. :)
