I watched a video today about birds.
In the video, there's this group of people with two cockatoos, a macaw, and some conures.
they take them out to a big field and they let them fly around. they fly around really really high into the sky, and they fly really really far, where they look like a speck in the distance.
In the video, when they fly around up into the sky, some crows appear and chase them, and then they fly so far away that you cant see them anymore.
In the description, the lady talks about how the birds are trained and they're able to fly on their own and make their own decisions. they know evasive maneuvers to avoid the crows and they know how to handle the situations.
I would feel so scared and powerless in that situation. the sight of my own bird flying away into the distance just pulls a string in me that makes me want to panic.
In the description, the lady says part of the training is for the humans to trust their bird and form a good strong friendship and bond, and they'll always come back.
many parrots live their whole lives in a cage in a room with clipped wings, never understanding what its like to fly and be free. many are even too scared to venture outside their cage.
I dont want to be the one with clipped wings. I want to be the one who flies free and learns how to maneuver on their own, and learns how to deal with the crows.
