Hi everyone! I've been working on something and I'm realllllyyy excited about it. I've never done anything like it, and I don't know if it would get much response, but I want to go ahead with it anyway. This new project is called Furs & Fantasies.
What is Furs & Fantasies?
Furs & Fantasies (F&F) is my idea for a fun, light-hearted fiction series that includes elements of tabletop rpgs like Dungeons & Dragons, as well as reader interaction like in a Choose Your Own Adventure book or game.
How will it work?
The premise is that we start with a couple characters in a fantasy setting that have a basic set of skills and stats. During each chapter, the outcomes of some events will be decided randomly when I roll dice based on the stats of a character. I'll include the roll that I made so readers can see how these game aspects affected the story! As for the CYOA part: at the end oOf each short chapter, there will be several options for how an encounter is resolved or how the story will continue. People will vote on what happens next, and whichever choice gets the most votes will be the outcome! These choices could influence which adventuring job the party takes, how they deal with monsters or enemies, which path they choose in a dungeon, or even more serious things concerning the fate of the characters…
A note about this is that if the series is posted on multiple sites (I’m planning on Sofurry and Inkbunny at the least) votes will be compiled across all sites rather than have a branching plot for each one - though that could be an interesting experiment some day...
Okay, but what about the sexy stuff??
Glad you asked! Of course, this is meant to be a fun, smutty series full of hot and kinky sex. There will be many, many opportunities for things to take a sexual turn, even when that would be horribly cheesy like a bad D&D porn parody. Just how crazy it gets will be up to the audience, of course!
All this sounds pretty silly…
That’s probably because it is supposed to be. I want this to be a casual, campy, and low-pressure project. I like writing smut, but life is hard, and I need something that is entertaining and helps me unwind rather than something that becomes an obligation.
Will it actually work?
I don’t know! Like I said, I’ve never done it before, and it doesn’t seem very common. I can’t say if I’ll really get enough response to keep things going, and even if I do, I’m not sure how long it will go on.
So what’s are the characters and setting like?
The setting is a pretty typical fantasy world, like one you’d play a light game of Dungeons and Dragons in. It starts in the city of Teruth, one of the larger cities in the kingdom of Lupren, a kingdom ruled by a royal clan of wolves. Teruth is home to the Royal Academy of Arcane Arts, a school for wizards, sorcerers, and other mages. But Teruth is also a hub for trade and travel, and many adventurers find their way there seeking jobs or leads between adventures. There are plenty of taverns, inns, shops and brothels for them to spend their time and coin at.
As for the characters, I already have ideas for 5 potential characters for this adventuring party. It will start with Cyrus Norwood, a fox warlock whose quest for knowledge and power led him to make a bargain with a demon. The very first choice the audience makes will be to vote on which of 4 other characters he’ll start out with, and the adventure will start there. Over time, the readers will get to vote on which character to recruit next, and if there is enough interest, I will engage the audience in creating a character from scratch with your help!
When will Furs & Fantasies start??
I don’t have a solid launch date planned currently. However, I have character bios for Cyrus and his 4 potential companions already. I’ve also come up with a basic system of attributes, skills, and even scores for sexual abilities. I also have some loose notes about the setting, and I’m working on plot ideas to start things off.
Ultimately, the more interest and interaction there is, the more fun this will be, so letting me know what your thoughts are as I post updates and ideas will help move things along!
Well, that’s it for now! I’m going to keep working on this, and soon I’ll post those character profiles so you can take a look at the cast! That post will also show their stats and how I plan to use them. I hope I’ve raised your interest!
