He's your little brother!(rant)

I'm getting pretty tired of hearing, this.. though I wont have to hear it next year.

My mom is always telling me I should do stuff for him, with out having to be asked to....and I just stare at her  thinking, "are you fucking kidding me? when I was 17 I went weeks at a time taking care of him, and your telling me, now that he's 17 he cant take care of himself"

I know i'm the oldest child, but I feel no remorse, I had to grow up fast due to our situation, and I was never cut any slack.
And him, looking at him I can only think my mom has really gotten soft.
I couldnt even leave the house without cleaning it first, and he can have someone over when the house looks filthy..by my standards atleast.

I can only think
The younger ones are spoiled!!

But my bf is the youngest and he says he mother really cracked down on him after having had her other two make so many mistakes.

Did I turn out so perfect (lol i'm joking) that my mom decided "eh lets try something new....nothing at all!"

Usually yeah, the younger ones get it super easy. That's how it is with my best friend. He is second oldest out of four, and after him, his parents just spoiled the living crap out of the two younger ones.

That is pretty sad though at 17 and he can't take care of himself. :\

that seems to be the case with alot of older ones
I wish I was the one of the lucky ones lol

yeah, it really is, and i'm guessing he feels he shouldnt learn, since I get bitched at if I make myself and sandwich and I dont make him one... >.>

I am the older child, and I get little to no slack. I even got my ass kicked as a child, and he gets the world handed to him!!!
I had to do things on my own and do things perfect, and they wipe his god damn ass for him!!!
NOT TO MENTION he constantly picks fights with me, and I get yelled at for defending myself. He tries to punch me in the face, even succeeds there a few times, and I am yelled at for defending myself... not to mention he used to fake cry and say I hat him when I didnt, and I would get yelled at. I tried that once or twice (not fake crying, but saying he hit me). and there response was "why didnt  you defend yourself"
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME????????????????????????????????????

so, I understand your rage...

well, I dont really bruise easy, so it is rare for me to have a bruise to prove he hit me.... cut lips and stuff though, I have showed them and they said it was nothing, or he couldnt do something like that..... I swear to god, I fucking hate this kid and this is way beyond unfair.
He makes all the messes in the house and I get blamed for it, and I am the only one that cleans, and HE is the the one that gets the credit for it
WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!!!!!!

...you know?

as we got older a had less problems with him, I mean he's still a complete slob, he also take credit for cleaning when he didnt lift a finger,my mom will even give him credit without it once going in her mind, oh maybe she did it.
she also loves to bring up all the things I should be doing with my life, and making comments like "where did I go wrong", trying later to  make it sound like a joke, when she kinda hurt my feelings...

Well, I'm the middle of three kids. My older brother was always given special treatment because he was their first born. It sounds corny, but it's true. He's the successful one, college and university, fancy car, big house, wife, kid, etc. He got away with everything, he even took the car out and got drunk, then got beat up in a fight, the car reeked of booze as well as him, and all he got was a "don't do that again."

My little sister was a spoiled brat from the day she was born. Everyone tip-toes around her because if they even look at her and she thinks it's the wrong way all hell breaks loose. Stomping her feet, slamming doors, yelling and screaming, cursing and blaming everyone else for her problems. No one ever puts her in her place, I'm the only one who ever tells her the truth. Funny part is.... I'm the only one she really talks to, and doesn't freak out on.

Growing up I had to be in when the street lights came on, even at 18 (no my brother never had those standards, go figure). So I had to break my parents in so's to speak. By the time my sister came along to those years she had it so easy, and still whined and complained. I had to leave home and live on the streets before my parents finally appreciated me, and stopped blaming me for my sister... even though I told them since she was very young she needed mental help.

Now we're all grown up, and nothing has really changed. My parents finally understand what I was telling them all those years, and still treat me the same though. I don't really care anymore, it is what it is. My experiences make me who I am, and I don't really regret much of what I did. At least I can laugh at my parents now as they struggle to deal with my sister who's so out of control and mentally unstable, while I lock myself in my room away from it all. When I get out school, I'll soon make as much or more than my brother with less education.

So maybe things all work out in the end for a reason. I don't know, but either way you can't change a thing. My family is the only real family I have, and despite the flaws and hardships I still love them.

its good their seeing things the way you see them, and hearing you out kinda

I cant wait til I can sit down with my mom and tell her how I really feel about everything..one day I will..when i'm not living with her

It's good to pick and choose your battles. Sometimes it's best to wait, but I have a big mouth when I feel unfairly treated, and I let people know when I'm pissed.

I don't suggest the route I took, but I hope you find a way to deal with things and manage it all so you can live with as little stress from the situation as possible. I didn't have to fear talking to my parents, which is a huge bonus compared to others I grew up around. I don't claim my situation was worse than others, just different.

I do strongly suggest trying to have an open dialogue with your parent(s). If necessary, kindly remind them who controls whether they end up in a home, and which home it will be ^.~

x3 I know where you're coming from. I'm the oldest of 5, and there are currently 3 additional younger children living here. And since the eldest of my siblings had an "emotional disability" (got kicked out of every private school and day care in the area before he was old enough to go to grade school), none of the rules I grew up with applied to him. My mother went really easy on all the younger children to try to make things more "fair", but I'm pretty sure she just doesn't have the energy anymore to bring up the rest of these kids with any discipline. I was responsible for them for a few years, but I was expected to have all the responsibilities with none of the authority over them. After a near-physical confrontation with my 270lb stepfather for putting his child in a 5-minute time out (for beating on his brother with a stick or a pipe) while I was left to watch them, I moved out for a short time. When I moved back in for immigration reasons (and had to stay long enough to finish high school, then I got a scholarship here, etc), it was generally understood that I would have nothing to do with those kids anymore. I treat them no different than I would treat my cousins or a friend's kids. But yeah, at 17 he should be able to care for himself and another. Unfortunately, if you're older than 17 and still living in your parents house, you're kinda left with the options of "swallow your pride and deal with it" or "pay someone else rent". :/ Best of luck.

The youngest no matter how old they get will always be the 'baby' to some parents.

Erg, I know how this feels, I'm the oldest of four and my youngest brother drives me nuts.. And if there's any sort of disagreement at all, he texts my mom and *I* get the lashing no matter what it was about...

The younger siblings are raised by the older. That is how it most turns out and some parents expect it. Not fair and hard to fight against it.
