My mom wanted to turn the temperature up on our boiler using the wireless dial in the hall. Sounds simple right but oh did this get complicated quick. She wanted to set up the temperature schedule using the dial. Can you see a problem here? It's a dial. There's no buttons. You can't program it because it just goes up and down and that's it. So my mom was holding the dial down like a button in hopes it would do something and it turns out there is a function to that. It restores the boiler to its factory settings. Thus wiping the schedule she had already set up when installing the boiler. A schedule that had absolutely nothing wrong with it in the first place. I told her I could change the settings on the boiler itself but she quickly dismissed the idea and wouldn't even let me try. So we had to get the instructions out. Something i was trying to do from the start before mom messed everything up. Looking through the booklet i quickly located the settings for the dial and showed her that it just goes up and down and that's it and that the schedule instructions are on the boiler. Then she got out the 50 page thick installation instructions for the boiler. Not the electronic set-up instructions i had in my hand but the instructions of how to mount it to the wall and install the plumbing and gas and began reading it word by word from beginning to end. I just left her there because she would not be convinced to do anything else. Now she's angry at me because she was too stubborn to listen to me and read the instructions of how to set up the boiler using the button on the boiler itself. The boiler is literally 2 feet from the back door. It would have taken 5 minutes for fuck's sake.
