I'm so done with 2d Fighters for a while.

well after loosing countless and i mean countless matches of blazblue, street fighter 3, and mortal kombat online, i think i wont be playing 2d fighters for the next couple of weeks. I'm more of a casual player now cause i just don't have the time really and since its online you've got thousands of people who do nothing spend day after day after day remembering all these ridiculous combos that make fighting back nearly imposable. i don't have the time to remember all that. by all means props to you remembering a 30+ hit combo that takes away 80% of my life at the being of the match, but im just not that obsessed to do it. ill admit i know a combo or two. ive done the same thing and trained time to time, but its just starting to get to a point where its not fun. main reason why i don't like marvel vs. capcom series. all these 100+ combos, cheep characters, broken characters, etc. I just can't do it. I could easily watch some you tube combo videos and believe me i have, but im just not that obsessive, its just a game.

I never bother with them for multiplayer. People online are always better and so are my friends. I only play singleplayer in fighters.

some of them have pretty fun story modes like Mortal Kombat and Blazblue.

This is why I dislike most fighters. I do love Soul Caliber and King of Fighters XIII. They're pretty fun and the controls are pretty simple. Also, Virtual Fighter 5.

Yup I quit fighters about the time Killer Instinct came out and ruined the genre for me. Ever since then the combos have gotten ridiculous and ludicrous. It's not even fun now. Back in the day with the original Street Fighter 2 the combos were short and sweet, and usually defendable. Since then, it's just gotten to the point where I'd rather stick a pen in my eye.

mostly why i love street fighter 3: 3rd strike. its so much like the original yet its so drastically different, you have to lean from scratch. yet like all games, there are those people that figure out all the faults in the engine and exploit them to the fullest. If you've played any video game online, you know exactly how I'm talking about. I love video games, but I play them for fun, I even love the competition. I don't mind losing, hell if it was a good match, i praise the winner for leaving me with a memorable experience. It's the cheaters i don't like. Even now, it still amazes me how these people take the time to exploit and ruin it for everyone. Then when you call them on it, somehow your the one in the wrong for complaining.

Smash Bros is good ;3
Not so long combos. Although people online still play a lot better.

I loved 2d fighters hardcore and putting all the effort to learn all those combos felt so rewarding and memorizing openings and counters and stuff like that. Though after a while it became so annoying constantly practicing all sorts of timings for combos. I then started to become attached to grappler characters. They were much easier to learn and had simpler combos with big damage. Mainly though you were focusing on baiting you opponent.
To make a mistake and then making them eat about 50% of their health in damage. In blazeblue, I have so much love for Iron Tager. He just does so much damage in a single grapple that its like a slap in the face to all the other characters tha are flailing away for 40 hit combos just to take that same damage back in a few hits. And in street fighter 3, I will have much love fo Q. Even though few people like him.

I love playing them with my friends cause we are pretty much on par with each other. When I got online and haven't won a single match it made me laugh at all the people who said "you're the best at this game." The only game I actually won a shitload of matches was Guilty Gear. I won a few tournaments playing that and I'll never stop loving that series. MvC online can go suck one and Blazblue was a waste of my money cause it is nothing like GG like I hoped it was gonna be. Silly sammy games for tricking me. lmao
