Discontinuing "Alone"

I say discontinuing but its more like... setting it aside for the foreseeable future. A voluntary indefinite hiatus.

The issue is... The comic has become a big source of stress and frustration. It was the first comic i ever started and I leaped into it wanting to make a long meaningful story. However... I've realized how hard it's been to even get a single page done even with what support it's gotten to the point its making me borderline depressed because I see the broad spectrum of it, but I know at this rate if i were to try and continue it it would take me decades to finish it as a story and not rush it into being just a quick porn comic.

I feel like i should just drop it, for at least the time being. Maybe work on different comics, some shorter, easier comics I can produce more quickly as practice that has content i enjoy and can get done without feeling like I am going to be at it for years to come.

I was probably a bit over-zealous thinking I could write a story with no known end in comic form when I first started this project years ago. Now as I see it the best option I have for both my own sanity and entertaining my watchers is to set it aside, do other smaller comics, get better at my art, and then someday come back to Alone with more confidence and a better situation where I can make it the story I always wanted it to be and the story you all deserve.

So for now, "Alone" will be on hiatus.

In the meantime, I'll try my hand making shorter comics as a replacement. I will likely finish the next page of "Alone" and upload it before setting it aside, however I feel that may just end up disappointing people by leaving a cliffhanger that won't be addressed for a while as well as the fact I fully intend when I pick it back up again and start Alone from scratch by updating each page with my future improved art.

Sorry if anyone here is disappointed, but just remember that Corey's story is not over, and one day it will be back better than ever.

In the words of John Lennon, "Life is all the shit that happens between the plans you make."

My advice: "Do what's good for you."

TBH this has been the same reason for many other artist - this is Your art

The painting Mona Lisa wasn't ever finished right away - To Leonardo Da Vinci, patience wasn't a big virtue for him - A single hair was used to make that happen - Taking time to balance everything is not as easy as it seems - It's a struggle for sure.
,
My advice if drawing is your passion - Don't let greed of exhaustion take over, but as a passion of how it makes you remember why you started it in the first place. This is your art - it may or may not be a "Have to do" thing to you. Just remember that it's 'Your Comic'.

And it also great to take breaks and not pressure yourself 😋 Just letting you know that's what science says~

Could always just make it into a story instead~ maybe provide comic pages for the key moments to go along with it if your up to it but I think it would do just fine in story form!

I feel like I know a lot about being over-zealous with my projects and plans so I think I understand how you feel.

Perhaps when you began this comic, you were ready to pour your heart into a thoughtful story. But the more you think about the overarching story, the more it feels like you need to change what's currently written down and then you're left with a self obligation to push through because you don't want to disappoint yourself and everyone else by leaving something unfinished.

At the end of the day though, do what you feel is right for you. It takes a lot of energy to make these kinds of things so go ahead and set it aside until you've got all that energy back. But as you put it on hiatus, remember not to let the thought of its current state hinder you as you try to improve yourself.

Never pause to ask yourself if you're good enough to continue. When the time is right, you'll go into it again knowing that you are ready to go on. ^^
