Hurricane journal. Preparedness vs. Hysteria.

by
Some days ago I was talking about the coming storm (almost here as I type this) and about people's reactions and over reactions.

So here is an example of the difference between being prepared and going nuts.

I was talking to my brother who also lives in Florida but 300 miles north of me. He has a friend who jumped into the car with his family and hit the road with no particular direction. The storm was still three days away form theoretically reaching his area and they don't live too close to the shore to be worried, but he just left the house and ran out of the state.

Now he calls my brother to tell him they are lost in the middle of nowhere, low on gas and one of the kids is sick. My brother, on the other hand, cleaned the backyard and secured the windows and stayed home.

Seriously, in a storm you are much safer surrounded by walls than inside a car on the road.

Don't lose your heads, people.

The media has been going insane with just about everything else, so why not weather? lol

If you are inland and at a high enough elevation, things should be just fine.

Can't even watch the news without some dumb-ass reporter standing in the middle of a flooded street telling the viewers that rain is wet and hurricanes are windy and that global warming will destroy us all. ^_^

And they still wonder why people are getting rid of cable TV.
