I added more tiers.

So when I initially created tiered pricing- increasing the price of a commission depending on how many characters were in it- my theory was that it would curb the size of commissions and let me draw more, and get to more turns.

This is not what happened.

Instead people have been pushing the limits as to how much they can commission in one session, which, you know, it's your prerogative as a customer to get what you want, I get it! But I also have to dissuade this trend somehow. So I've introduced more tiers. High tiers. Really bloody expensive tiers! They are in my profile.

I always had a bad conscience when commissioning a colored picture from you, blocking others from getting a turn.
But it seems I have not been the worst offender.

You could make it so larger works can only be commissioned in small chunks (Like only sketch first. then lines, then colors).

I approve of this move.  Not much more to say.

When people abuse the system, you gotta change it.

Makes sense! After all, OMFGHUEG commissions often take up a whole stream (not to mention backlog days), so discouraging them, or making more money off 'em, seems like a good idea.

You might also consider instituting a max limit on characters; if people want more, they can split it into parts.  It'd take longer but'd be cheaper.

He had done that originally, then decided that if folks wanted more than just a few chars, that was their prerogative. I did hear that yesterday there was a 300 dollar commission, which is absurd

$300?!
Jesus did this person want Nori to draw every person in China?! O.o

I completely agree with this move. It will help to clear up the commissions faster and more people will get a turn in line.

So no changes to the tiers that we already know, but more tiers to cover the ridiculously enormous commissions. About time!

sounds fair to me. i think the most i ever got was 12 character plus 4 talking  heads so 14? 16 or more is a huge commission.

$400 for a 16 character coloured commission still seems like a bargain ;D

My god, these prices are so.... tiny! O.o Like, really really cheap!

You could easily, EASILY bump up the prices a solid 30 or 40$ extra! If people REALLY love what you do, they'll pay the price! I know I would ^^

I could. And eventually that'll just have to happen by virtue of me slowing down as I get a little older, but for now? I finish a four character color commission in about 4 hours. That's $40, or 10 bucks an hour. That's not too bad.

Here's hoping this leads to a few lineart commissions that I can colour. Your stuff is fun to work on, but I can't do anything when you colour everything yourself!

All I want is to get a four paneled, two character comic. But I'll also be just as happy to even get a commission from you. n_n  I am a simple man with simple goals in life, and simple dreams.

a bit late (and a bit of a dumb one), but one suggestion could possibly be to reduce the price of stuff like the single character color which could possibly incentivize people getting smaller images.

like to me as a first time commissioner, its like "why pay 20 bucks for 2 separate 1 character things when for 4 dollars less i could get 2 at once, or for 4 dollars more, i could even get 3"

Well, 1) Even with this 'increase' my prices are so unfathomably cheap that I could never justify doing art at that rate. And
2. The trend has always been more characters, not less, even though the price incentive is clearly less.
