Wisdom Tooth

So I think i'm getting my first wisdom tooth, which is funny considering i'm the last of my friends to get it...
But atleast i'm not old then  I am now, imagine having that pain when your pregnant god you'd wanna kill someone lol.

I'm not certain though cause I've had this happen before, and nothing happened, but i'm pretty sure what I feel are sharp teeth slowing breaking out of my gums .

Soo when did you get your wisdom teeth?
Did you have them pulled?
If you haven't has it affected anything  ...like your other teeth?

I have had mine for 10 years now. Doc says "Doesn't hurt -> not coming out" :P

ooh so as long as they dont hurt there's no need for them to come out
well then I hope once they come in I never have to worry about having them pulled ono

Well, depends on the doctor, the shape of your jaw and the angle in which it's coming out. Even if there is no pain, a wisdom tooth coming out in an angle can push the rest of the teeth sideways (sort of like braces, but doing the opposite job). Some docs will recommend pulling it out, though.

In my case there's a bit of that going on but it's negligible, so I don't mind :P

I got mine pulled so long ago I barley remember it.
...though I do recall my mom making a whole lot of oatmeal for me to munch on the couple days afterwards.

The worst thing about getting a tooth pulled is the sound.   If you can stand that..  you'll be fine.
It sounds really really nasty,  and smells a 100 times worse,  but it feels sooo much better after you get the stupid thing out of your head.
I think wisdoms are just extra teeth that we don't really need anymore or something,  sort of like appendixes.
They're just there to mess with us,  tighten/misalign our other teeth,  and just generally cause us discomfort.

Good luck with it.

;;n; that doesnt sound so good, did they give you something to numb you before you go it pulled?

Yea.  :)    Most 'good' dentists will numb the heck out of you so you don't feel anything but the tugging and pulling.
If you're gonna get them pulled,  don't wait until they've got cavities and stuff.
(that goes for getting 'any' tooth pulled)
the healthier the tooth is,  the less time they gotta spend getting it out

bottom 2 were removed by a naval dentist. The way they were removed, the idiot cracked one of my molars and THAT had to be pulled, too. Currently, my top right wisdom tooth is partially in, but there is no more room in my mouth, and it is coming out sideways. The top left one is still up in my skull, near my friggin sinuses.

When they grow in, as I remember, it also kinda hurts, though not as much, just because it's growing through your flesh, ripping through it really slowly. I suspect this is why babies cry a lot while teething.

I eventually had all four wisdom teeth pulled, because then were growing in at an angle and hurting. It's painful, I can't say it's not: and your mouth just feels WEIRD.

Getting them removed if they're going wrong is *less* painful than leaving them in: no more headaches, toothaches, earaches, clicking jaw, etc.

On the downside, after an extraction you're in for maybe a week of pain and painkillers, and there's a nerve that runs along under there - removing the tooth can damage that nerve and cause to you become considerably more sensitive to heat/cold in your mouth. Which is weird. I used to be able to crunch ice-cubes, had that tooth out, and pow, couldn't eat icecream without wincing. It's got better over the years since, but still - that was the most annoying side-effect.

I have had wisdom teeth removed at lunchtime and returned to work afterwards, but I'd recommend not doing so.

I left mine in, and they would have been fine but the hardest part is keeping them clean so they don't get cavities. Depending on how yours are coming in you may get to keep yours too, but it is a pain to keep them cavity free. I've since have had 3 of mine pulled. 1 because my tooth literally broke biting into a hardened piece of rice (wtf?), and the other 2 because I couldn't clean them well enough and they got cavity ridden. =/ So yeah, just keep yer mouth clean. =p

too many comments to read so forgive me if I'm repeating. when you go to see your dentist (once every six month thing) ask him to x ray it. if you don't see a dentist every six months then go in and x ray it. he will either point you to someone who is a expert or say don't worry. when I got mine pulled I was put asleep and had a ton of pain killers. I was given perks for after. I slept through all the pain but, I have a part of my chin numb and it still is very slightly numb. and it was a year ago. for the price it really helps to have insurance. The doc says better to have them pulled sooner then later.
