So, everyone already knows this, especially since it's in the damned title, but the characters of MLP are ponies, not horses. Now you're probably thinking, "but wait, ponies are a species of horse, right?" Wrong, they are a member of the Equine genus, but hey are not horses as horses are very different when you know what to look for, most notably, size. Ponies are Equines underneath 48 inches tall at the withers, while horses are above 48 inches tall at the withers. Now, that's just the most notable difference. The rest of the differences can be found in the barrel, skull, legs, mane, etc. as Ponies are stockier with thicker, stubbier limbs and thicker manes while horses, such as my personal favorite, the Clydesdale, have longer, proportionally sleeker bodies that don't look abnormal comparatively.
Now, let's assume that the Allicorns in the show, most notably Celestia, are at the tallest for ponies at 47 inches tall, and the rest are smaller. 47 inches is one inch short of four feet tall, as you would know if you can do simple math.
Now, the two reasons why I bring this up, starting with the one regarding tags and pornographic material. If it is MLP porn, it is not horse porn, it is pony porn, more specifically, MLP fan porn. Just saying, fix it, because it's annoying to keep seeing the wrong shit in the wrong places. Secondly, if you're going to do a pic of an MLP character with a horse, remember that a horse, such as a Clydesdale, can be more than twice as large as a pony, so definitely remember that when you're drawing proportions.
Now (I should stop starting every subject with now) the main reason for posting this. This knowledge has been stuck in my head for an annoyingly long time and nobody seems to give a shit about this amongst my personal friends since they aren't as interested in MLP as I have become. I'm definitely not a brony since I mostly watch the show for the good morals, jokes, and positive feels it gives my heart, but I definitely wish that there was an episode or something where they address horses existing or not in the show, just because them not addressing such a huge thing is driving me crazy with curiosity.
So, what's your thoughts on the whole subject of the ponies compared to horses? Should I post a random fan fic that forced itself into my mind about the scenario that they never addressed? Or should I just lobotomize myself for even caring enough about this show to be concerned with little problems like this?
