well for those whom don't know me that well. I am currently in japan, starting my 3rd year overseas. To add salt to the wound this will be my 3rd Christmas away from home. I am VERY family oriented when it comes to this holiday. I used to do yard lights, a big tree cooking for hours on end wiht my mother and grandmother (god rest her soul... she died in december of 2007 a year before I graduated from bootcamp.) Even in the barracks the past 2 years I had enough room to set up a tree so I could feel more at home. This year though is hitting rather hard. Homesickness is setting in since this is the 3rd Christmas away from home.
timeline of my christmases for those who wanna know.
2009: on base for a month and stuck in the barracks. wasn't able to go anywhere but I had a simple tree.
2010: kind of cool since I went to tokyo but still wasn't as nice as being home for the holidays.
2011: going to kyoto and once more as beautiful as the city is it still isn't home....
I just needed to put my thoughts on the net to see if others were in the same situation v_v I will say this and I know it goes against the spirit of christmas but it does show somone cares for you....I do miss doing gift exchanges with my family. the past 2 years I sent gifts for the kids back and watched over skype as they recieved them.
