Time for a semi-annual journal.
Oh, who am I kidding, I'm just bumping the last journal down so I can have something up for the next however long that might be somewhat more relevant. Or at least stay relevant for more than a week.
I'm late to this party, but (as of this posting) I finally saw Zootopia. What can I possibly say that hasn't been said already? Like damn near every one else, I loved it. Probably on second on third viewing, it'll probably firmly plant itself in my top 25 favorite movies of all time. It felt like a nostalgia movie. It took me right back to when I was a little little kid who watched Disney's Robin Hood so damned much, I'm surprised the tape survived as long as it did.
Something that stood out to me coming out of the theater? The messages. Both the subtle, and the rammed down your throat messages. And there were a bunch.
The most well-meaning people in your life don't always know what's best for you.
Good people can do terrible things without even knowing it until hindsight blindsides them later.
And they're still good people who can make amends.
People who have wronged you now may feel terrible about it later, or not. And it doesn't matter either way.
You need to keep moving towards your goals irregardless of them.
It can be hard to live up to your potential. You may be told, or tell yourself it's impossible.
Try anyways.
That's not even touching half of them. Sure, it's great that this movie will probably bring new blood into the furry fandom for the next couple of decades. But if even a few kids grow up with the seeds of those messages planted deep between their ears. I'll be a smidge happier a few decades from now.
