Terry Updates

I forgot to post my twitter up here, here ya go if you want more frequent updates on Terry's progress: @koji_zevi

Terry made it through surgery this morning, no complications and he's waking up just fine! The dead muscle tissue was removed, the infection was cleaned out, and now from what I know he has a drainage tube and plenty of stitches. The doctor explored the major swelling around his arm, but was unable to figure out what exactly it is, so we may be running biopsies to figure that out.
So, I can't give you guys a complete prognosis just yet, but know that he's okay and recovering well so far! ; U ;

I will be getting a call from my doc later about the costs of everything and what biopsies we need to run, so I'll update again when I have more information. From what my doc said and the x-rays I know the swelling is not any kind of mass or cancer, just inflamed/damaged tissue that is perplexing everyone at the office. Hopefully whatever comes back is something we can treat and get down, otherwise I will probably be facing amputation; but whatever happens I am going to do whatever I can for my baby.

Thank you again so much to everyone who's helped me out so far and supported me through this, we still have a ways to go it seems but it's all thanks to you that I am even able to do this right now. You are all wonderful fluffs and I cannot thank you enough for everything you've done ;;

As for commissions I'm getting fully on those today, so you will start seeing some of them finished by tonight hopefully! As always you can check out my trello for progress, which is linked on my profile c:

Thanks again everybody, and expect to hear from me again on this fairly soon (if you want info sooner check my tweeter)! ; U ;

Well one thing that is different from other animals is that their puss turns into cottage cheese to a solid mass where other animals, (like people), the blood/bacteria/dead cells is more liquid and milky.  I hope the guy has had experience with rabbits before your guy.

I know, I've cleaned puss out of wounds before on rabbits (-shudders at that memory-), and the surgeon did clean puss out of the initial, open wound. The doc and surgeon are an exotic specialists and deals with them all the time, they are both very knowledgeable and the surgeon did a bit of exploratory surgery on the swollen areas (which are separate from the initial wound); it's just a bit of a mystery because it is so strange (looks like he has 3 nickel sized balls under his skin) and upon inspection there was no puss in the swollen areas, just soft tissue damage.

She thinks it may be a different kind of bacteria than what typically infects wounds, since the general antibiotics aren't affecting the swelling, which is why we're doing the cultures. Unfortunately it's kind of hard to come up with what it might be since I didn't see the injury happen, and there were no clues around to indicate a probable cause, so it's just a process of elimination right now.

We are all kinda scratching our heads right now because the swelling came up overnight and hasn't changed since the initial injury. Been a very strange ride so far and we're just hoping that we'll have some answers soon, but at least in the mean time he doesn't have an open wound anymore and no more dead muscle exposed, so he's in much less pain and actually doing very well c:
