"Anything Goes" Artists?   Do they still exist?

This has been something I've noticed for awhile.   The number of "anything goes" artists have dropped significantly over the last 5 years.   Before there used to be about a dozen or so you could choose from and now I really can't think of any that will (happily even) try anything.

Do these artists still exist?    And what do you feel has been the reasons for the sharp decline?   Finally - what is your opinion on the matter; do you think the decline is a good thing or a bad one and why?

Oh lord I know I'm going to open up a can of worms with this - it's just been one of those niggling thoughts on my mind I guess. :3

I'm not sure I know of any, if I do likely it would only be one or two. I just can't think of any off hand.

I think one of the reasons "anything goes" artists are in the decline is because as artists evolve and become better, they have more liberty to restrict what they're willing to do.

I also think the decline is partly due to the lessening of anonymity on the internet-  many more people realize how easy it's gotten to link your online activities to your real life, and therefore have become reluctant to be associated with certain things.

I do everything except poop and extreme violence.
So... yeah. Not completely all free but I'd try lots ^^

I mostly agree with Rikmach. "extreme" art generally leaves a bad taste in most people's mouths, and greatly reduces the chances of being commissioned or hired.
I do crazy stuff, but I'm a writer, not an artist. Shame.

That's actually an interesting point.   It is curious how people focus on the artist and not the commissioner in those circumstances.

if you draw/write something that most people find unappealing, most people won't care who asked you to do it. They'll just see "oh, so-and-so drew cub porn!" and then the artist gets stigmatized.

If I have not ever before drawn it, I will promise to try it out.
