Please Read: My Apartment was broken into!

Yes you heard me correctly. My home was broken into with what the police suspect was a spare key to this apartment. No the door's lock was never changed prior to my moving in. The landlord was under the assumption that ALL the keys for this place had been given back to him but apparently not.

When I left my home today, I locked the door. I was gone for maybe 2hrs and when I came back, my door was open, my cats were in the hall, and several items were missing. I called the police after herding the cats back inside and trying my best not to mess any prints on the door handle up, closed the door. Police then checked the apartment, and asked me to do a quick once over, where I discovered $300 was missing, a set of fake gold earrings was missing, 2 rare singing crystal glasses were missing, and 2 internet modems which were no good, were also missing, along with an older DVD player and my crappy stereo.

Total amount of goods stolen $434

While, I am not overly concerned about the goods, as the phone company had already disabled the modems, so they can't be used at all, the stereo was on it's last legs and the dvd player was old, the crystal glasses were family heirlooms, worth on today's market a whooping $200 - $400 easily as they were called 'Singing Crystal' meaning when filled with a liquid and then with a finger that was wetted, rubbing the rim would make them 'sing'. The $300 was also given to me, by my aunt, to get food tomorrow (today) when the store was open.

The police, aren't very optimistic either that the culprits will be caught because a. the door had so many hand prints already on it, that it was hard to get a clear print, b. the cats water was spilled and it had run over the hardwood floors, to mix with their turned over litter box creating a gooy mess and c. from what I have learned, our security cameras weren't working, an issue that has been ongoing since the last snowfall.

My commissions are now an urgent necessity. I need to get food, and half the $300 was going on my bills. So donations, commissions, anything at this point, will help!

I am looking to make back the $300 but I hold no hopes of that happening as none have even donated. I have a few say they wish they could help, but the kick to the gut was those same people going off and commissioning someone else. While I understand my art may not be up to everyone's standards, it is art and the monies made from it, go towards my bills, food, clothing, and so forth. I need to get a new tablet power cord and half the money given to me by my aunt, was going to go towards that, now I can't even do that.

So if you can help, simply comment below.

Thanks.
