For those who don't believe how bad and insecure this country can be... Come to Argentina! :)
Find a place named "Retiro", and just stand in the outside of the station after the fall of the dark ;3

The only reason I'd go to Argentina is to visit the Pa Kua school there..  I'm not one to tempt fate..  Or criminals..

No, that's the funny part. Here thieves kills you with easily with any element they can get, but you, as worker, doesn't have the less right to carry personal defense elements. If the police caughts you with those elements, you get in trouble

From my experience the places with the highest rates of violent crimes typically have the strictest weapon and gun control laws.  That's one of the reasons you're so likely to get mugged in London.  Places where it's legal for a law abiding citizen to carry a concealed firearm are often some of the safest.  Nobody wants to risk getting shot while trying to mug you.   However, it also depends on the local economy, and other risk factors.  Places with a high ratio of people in their late teens through twenties are also pretty dangerous, since people in that age range are more likely to commit crimes of opportunity.

A lot of people think the Old West in the US was a very violent time period, but often years would go by in towns without any murders.  If there were more than 3 murders in a single town it was often considered a record setting year.  That period has been romanticized for the sake of drama.  In reality you were far more likely to get killed in a major city then in a small town with a bunch of folks toting around rifles and pistols.  When the people you interact with are armed, it gives you the inclination to be very polite.

I never had Argentina down as a dangerous country. When I think of Argentina I usually think of barren mountains and glaciers, not being robbed on the road.
