Spin-off of "The Runaway Cat-Girl" - Preview Below

Hi folks, I just wanted to let you know that I'm still working on a few things.  First of all, I finished my story "A Father on Trial," and will be linking to it soon.  It is humans only, so it will have to go to ASSTR.org.  It has 5 parts total.

I wanted to get that story out of the way first, before I finished up The Runaway Cat-Girl.  I started on another tale in the same universe as The Runaway Cat-Girl, and I decided to give you a preview.

Here is a portion of:

Vita the Cat Burglar
A Tale of the United Brettovian Empire

The United Brettovian Empire has many intelligent species (including human), all peacefully co-existing, for the most part.  They are all bipedal, roughly human-sized, with dexterous human-like paws, and ages roughly corresponding to human ages.  The beginning of this story briefly intersects with The Runaway Cat-Girl, Chapter 3.  Vita is a lithe, black-furred cat.

Having hired herself as a guard to a merchant train several days before, Vita could tell by the stench in the air that the city of Villa Novae was getting close.  When they finally arrived at the trading compound outside of the city, she went to take her leave.  Arguing that her presence hadn't been needed after all, the bovine merchant seemed quite reluctant to give her the agreed-upon pay, until Vita idly began flexing her long claws in and out.  When she paused to sharpen one on a metal file, the merchant quickly gave her the full fee, so she smiled sweetly at the ox and departed.

After pausing to ask a guard where she could find a reasonably-priced inn, Vita began to push her way through the jostling crowd.  After following the guard's jumbled directions for a while, she found herself in a dank alley, far from the busy street.  Cursing the dim-witted guard under her breath, she put her senses on high alert, and spun as a dark figure stepped out from a doorway.

"Ahh, little missy, ya wouldn't be lost, now?" asked the hulking jackal as he leered at her.

Vita simpered at him and said breathlessly, "Why yes, I am a bit turned around, I was looking for the inn.  Could you tell me where it is?"  She kept her ears swiveled to listen for any sounds behind her or in other doorways, as she pretended to smile at the roughly dressed male.

"Aye, missy, I COULD tell you, fer a price!" the jackal said, his eyes hungrily roaming over her lithe form, leaving little question as to the type of payment he was expecting.

Still playing the innocent, Vita began preparing herself, as she said, "Oh!  But I have barely any coins, and I'll need all of them for the inn tonight!  Thank you anyway, I'll manage to find it on my own."

"Oh dear, I was hopin' we could be friends," the jackal snarled.  "Still, there is the matter of the payment, for me kindness in offerin' ta help ya!"  He casually rested his paw on a short sword at his waist, and continued.  "I don't need it in coin, in fact, I'd prefer to take it out in trade!  Yer a fine-lookin' piece o' pussy!"  He chortled at his vulgar wordplay, and leaned in close.  "Now then, be a good pussy, and I won't have to hurt ya!"

He reached out a paw to grope for Vita's breast, her tunic offering little protection from his rough paw.  Vita  cowered back in what appeared to be abject terror, causing the jackal to grin lewdly.  Removing his hand from his sword, he began to fumble under his cloak, the other paw sliding down to raise Vita's tunic and expose her nethers to the cool evening air.

As he freed his genitalia, he gasped, and looked down in shock at the small dagger sprouting from his chest.  Vita smiled grimly as he reached an unsteady paw to touch it, before he collapsed into the alleyway.  She looked around once more to make sure she wasn't being observed, then dragged the body into a dark part of the alley, behind some refuse.

She hastily searched the body, her nimble digits pulling out a light moneypouch, a dagger similar to the one she'd stabbed him with, and the short sword.  Retrieving her dagger from his chest, she wiped it on his tunic and stashed it in her sleeve.  She strapped the sword to her side, under her cloak, and was about to leave when her eye caught pale moonlight glinting from something on his paw.  She grabbed the small ring thus revealed, and quickly headed back to the main street, leaving the sordid scene behind.
