Well this really sucks....

I really wanted to post up the second part of my story but now it looks like its going to take even longer. -_-

Idk what the hell happened to my laptop but it doesn't want to start up Windows. Im now getting online by using HP Quickweb.  Sure I still can get on the Internet but now I can't access my pics, music, and my stories in progress since their all obviously located in folders that are in Windows.

It was taking me a long time to upload the second part since Im a harsh critic on myself and Im always retyping and changing up scenarios but now I can't even work on it unless I start over from scratch and type it out in that area in the writing submission thing.....

Wait, I think I just figured out my problem. People use that don't they? Am I like, the only one who feels that they need to upload their story from writing documents? Oh gosh Im just rambling now.

Ill see what I can do to get that second part up and running...err. Yeah you know what I mean. X3

*kisses you* don't worry, I'm sure you'll be able to work out a solution and give everyone that exciting conclusion they're just waiting for!

It sounds like the file may still be there, if it's just Windows that isn't working right, as opposed to a hard drive failure that would cause you to lose everything.

HINT:  Get something like Dropbox to store your most important files, that way they are accessible from any computer and will be around even if your hard drive goes *poof!*

That reminds me, I need to add my latest files to Dropbox.

That's great advice, but unfortunately I have to download it and I can't do a thing without Windows. I don't have a flash drive or anything. So yeah for now I need to figure out what I need to do to be able to start up Windows again. And even if I was able to download Dropbox I wouldn't have anything to add. X3

The message I do get from trying to start it up is something about the reboot system being lost or some shit.

Yeah, the Dropbox thing is more for when you have the computer up and running again.  Another idea (since you can get to the web) is to use Google Documents.  You could work on a story there from any computer, save it to your computer as a formatted file, and upload it here, or just copy it from the Google window and paste it here.

As far as the computer goes if the message is something about the "boot sector" being lost, that could be bad!  It could mean your whole hard drive is fried.

Alright I wrote down what the message says every time I try to start up:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

Then it proceeds to tell me that I need to install some disc, but this is a laptop and there is no way to insert any disc.
At the the bottom the info says:

The Windows Boot Configuration Data file is missing required information.

Impossible to do without being there (if you've got a friend or family member who's good with computers, talk to them.)

However, it doesn't sound like the hard drive is completely dead.  Does the laptop have a CD/DVD drive?  Those are what it means by "disc", not a floppy disk.  Do you have any CDs/DVDs that came with the computer?

Here's a link on part of the problem, although don't try any of it yourself.  Take it to a person who is good with computers (even if you have to pay, it would be worth it to avoid messing something up!)

No it doesn't have a CD/DVD drive. That's why Im so confused about it. Its an HP mini and it didn't come with any CD or anything.

Unfortunatley I don't really know anyone who is good with computers. I guess I will have to go and pay someone to fix it.
But thanks so much. You've been a big help. I appreciate it.  :)

Ahh, I wasn't familiar with the HP Minis, I guess something that small wouldn't have a DVD drive.  I did see that they had an external drive, but of course you'd have to buy it (and the backup CD/DVD.)

You might also look here, although again, I caution that it might be better to pay to have it done (I don't want to be responsible for telling you to do something and it messes it up worse!)

I don't know if you are using XP, Vista, or Windows 7, you could google "Windows failed to start" + your operating system, and look for a similar answer from Microsoft that matches your system.
