It has been too long since I got a chapter of Forging Rust posted. That should change in the next couple of days, as I just sent chapter 14 to be proofread.
Yes, Chapter 14. I know that there has been no sign of Chapters 12 or 13 posted. I was so seriously derailed from my writing flow that to get myself started again, I had to use one of the pieces of advice from NaNoWriMo designed to keep a person working on getting word count. Basically, SInce I was having trouble with the next chapter, I needed to skip to something I could write.
There is nothing that gets skipped over that is key to understanding the overall story. Chapter 14 has mention of some of the things that happen, so readers should be able to proceed easily, it is hoped. I plan on writing up the skipped scenes (in however many chapters it takes) at a future point. It may well be that these chapters will serve as bonus material if it is decided to publish the finished novel electronically. They fit the criteria of being nice extras without their absence making the rest of the story unreadable. But for now, I will press on.
I hope to have the chapter posted before Tuesday, as I'm headed off to MFF on Wednesday, which would back up when the chapter could be posted by over a week. I'm not going to say I'll be getting back to a regular schedule of posting chapters yet, but hopefully, after the convention, I can keep getting them posted without such a long delay.
