Cant draw anymore...

I think im just gonna give up trying to draw... no matter how hard I try I just cant do it anymore. Just making little scribbles used to be alot of fun for me, but now, it's just a frustrating hassle as I cant even draw a circle anymore... ;-;

Alot of my friends keep telling me it's just a block, and im hoping thats true. I dont know though....

I had a case of writer's block (and I could argue I'm still struggling with it).  I knew I wanted to write, I had ideas that I wanted to get out, I had a story I wanted to finish, but I just couldn't get a scene to manifest itself in my mind.  I tried to force myself to write a scene, but I hated it immediately.  I ended up keeping it in the story, but I felt so upset with myself after I wrote it.

I'm much like you in that writing and creating is a lot of fun for me.  But when I reached that block, it became a chore.  It was several weeks before I was able to write the scenes I wanted and finally finish the darn thing, though I'm unsure if it truly is finished or not.

That's kind of why I think it might be an artist block.  Sort of relating your trouble with mine.  It could also be a result of your current emotional state.  I will say, though, that you should never give up trying to draw.  I don't have any advice on how to break through an artist's block, but you shouldn't just quit when you get blocked.

Looking at the other comments, I have to agree with them.  You shouldn't quit drawing, but it is important to just take a step back and do something else.  Take your mind off of it and so forth.

That's kind of how I got through my writer's block.  I didn't think of it when I wrote that comment, but they're right.  I stressed myself over the story, trying to fight my way past the block, but it wasn't until I took a few weeks off that I was able to start writing again.  Sure, during those few weeks I occasionally tried to do something, but I failed.  I just tried not to stress and then resumed the break.

Now that I've gotten used to doing other stuff, it's kind of difficult trying to get back into a writing groove, but maybe I'm just not completely over the block.  I don't know.  But I guess that's the best advice.  Stop stressing over it and just do something else.  Your arting mojo will return in time.

Aww. *snuggles*

You haven't lost your ability to draw.  It's just gone on vacation and didn't tell you. XD

Go play some Fallout 3 (like I've been doing since that one chat of ours) or Oblivion and just lose yourself in the game.  Have some fun doing something else.  Your fans aren't going anywhere, and I'm sure they'll all understand that you needed a break.

I felt (and still feel) the same way about my own writing struggles.

You aren't alone, as all the other comments can attest.  Just give yourself some time, hon. ;)

Well the more you worry about it the worse it is. Just forget about it for now, do some other stuff for a bit and I think things will get worked out. =3 Though I'm going to be sad not to see more of your stuffs for a while. =(

Aaaw... I know the feeling, and I hope that you can find you way through this block relatively soon. I'd take Shokuji's advice though. Usually taking your mind off of it and enjoying yourself elsewhere will allow you to find either a new source of inspiration or a muse.~

Don't worry about it, we all go through this. The most important thing is to NOT stress about this. You most likely just needed a little recharge time. Keep busy with other things and you'll be back to art before you even realize it. Good luck.

When I couldn't draw anymore I took a break for awhile and learned to play bass guitar.  I played in a band for a couple years and got to go to a lot of furry cons for free.  When we finally broke up I went back to drawing reinvigorated.  Artists take sabbaticals all the time.

I more or less gave up writing because I couldn't come up with anything original... Now most of my skills go to political blogging that no one really sees, or occational Letters to the Editor for a local newspaper.

You are your harshest critic. Once you can tune yourself out and just let yourself go, then you'll be better.

Yeah I been feeling the same about my art as well. Even just the doodles i do don't give me the same feeling they used too. I force myself to draw more for the same of my freinds. I don't know anything about your situation but give it sometime and see what happens

I always seem to come to the party late, but maybe my two cents are still worth a dime; writer's block (or creator's block to cover all the bases) can actually work both ways. I am an excellent writer and have had an idea in my mind for a long time, but I haven't set a single word on paper due to my fear of failing at its creation. A single word out of place, a single scene that doesn't fit and it all just comes apart. That fear drives me away from my goal and so I don't even attempt to write anything original. Instead I ask people for set pieces and then build stories around that, but they're hollow; an exercise.

Perhaps the problem isn't a lack of ideas, but too many, or a single one that's nagging at you; wanting to be complete while you wonder if your skills are up to the task.

A magnum opus is a powerful device that can stun even the greatest artists in their tracks. Work around the edges; a little here, a little there, create the things that are set in your mind until you can then link all the pieces together into the whole.
