Ha! Didn't think you'd ever hear from me again, did ya? Well, here I am ;).
It should please a great deal of people that I have just finished and uploaded the 8th chapter in the Heat of the Pridelands series. I originally planned to make it even longer than it is now, until I took a look at the page count and saw that it was already eleven pages and counting! So I decided to make Vitani's story a chapter of its own and will work out the rest of my naughty ideas in future chapters.
If you've been following this series from the start you're probably wondering how on earth I managed to slip a five year gap between two chapters. And the answer is fairly simple. A change of interests. I first got into the furry fandom and all of its art sites when I was a teenager at the age of 14 or so. And of course as a teenager you have all the time in the world to write, draw, socialize and explore just how far that weird sexual fetish is gonna go. In 2009, shortly after the 7th chapter was released, I started doing some new interesting stuff in my life. I got a new relationship, just started a new education and was making some preparations to buy a new apartment which had yet to be built. If you ever bought a 'to be built' house you'll know how much work goes into organizing that stuff :P. So in between all that stuff my attention and interest for the furry fandom slowly faded a bit. Not to mention that, as a teenager, you tend to have kinks or fetishes that you later grow out of. Not to say I now find furry sexuality disgusting, the community is still great, the art and stories are still very hot, but I do look at it now in a different way than I did when I was 16 (and still a virgin ;) ).
The other reason for the five year gap is that I didn't just want to write a story for the sake of uploading it in a timely fashion. Even though a story is pure fiction I still like the situations in that story to flow naturally from one to the other instead of forcing a (be it very hot and kinky) situation that makes no sense from the perspective of previous events. For example, one of the most common requests I get is a scene with Danny and Simba. And while I could (and would) turn that into a very hot scene, it would make absolutely no sense. Simba is quite obviously straight in this series, so while an encounter with Danny isn't completely off the table (it's still fantasy and guys tend to experiment ;) ), it will be quite challenging to write a natural transition where Simba becomes interested in such things. The same basically happened with this chapter. I already knew 5 years ago what I wanted to have happen in this chapter. But getting to a point where it even remotely made sense was extremely challenging. And even now I still think it could have been done better. This resulted in writing a lot of stuff that I either deleted directly after, or staring at a blank screen for minutes at a time. Eventually, though, the inspiration came back and I managed to write a pretty sweet chapter that still fits with the greater story and even manages to keep the character in character. But all that at the cost of a five year wait. So I really hope it was worth it for you guys :).
Which brings us to the unavoidable question; next chapter. When?
I'm obviously not going to mention a date or a month or even a year. Because for all I know it can take another five years for me to finish the next chapter. All I can tell you is that I still love exploring the possibilities with the Lion King cast and that I have no intention of ending the series any time soon. As far as I'm concerned there will be at least eight more chapters before I'll start thinking of writing a decent ending. I do want to introduce a larger story element besides the sex, though, and that's going to take some serious thinking. In short, it will be done when it's done and not a second earlier.
For all those of you who are still lingering in the fandom after all those years; thanks for all of your support and comments. Even stories I've written over 12 years ago are still getting views, likes and comments and that really means a lot to me. Thanks everyone!
