Oh...  The "George Bush" kind of crazy, where folders get nuked and the files - those that survived - have to go into hiding inside digital caves while the PC goes mad searching for something that was sitting in the Start Menu the whole time?  Or is it the "Dick Cheney" kind of crazy where it just blasts whatever you click on, and then swears at you through error boxes?

the second one Dx

I just feel like going down to the store where I got it and slam it into the head of the guy who sold it to me and forgot to mention it was crap. >:C

though I should just format the damn thing... IF I can get around to finding the drivers and stuff. ;_;

Warranty void if notebook is lodged up min-wage store clerk's anus.

Still, it would be more useful that way.  A learning tool to teach the dangers of selling lemons.

*nodnod* excatly. :C

I'm also loving how it came with all this stupid worthless software installed and I can't even burn a freakin' dvd without getting some kind of error. :3

Never trust in a CD/DVD burner's prepackaged software - it will fail 100% of the time.  Though I also caution against Nero, it's good software (if a bit pricy), but their antipiracy measures encroach on legitimate legal use.  ie: after the third install, you need to get a special code from them for every subsequent installation.  As someone who formats his computer semi-regularly, I'd blown through my three installs within a year of purchase.

Y'know what.  The only good computer is a custom-built computer, made at some place who actually knows their asshole from a motherboard.  Tis a shame you aren't a local (to where I be)...  There's this store that custom builds for much less than a prepackaged system, and preloads absolutely nothing you don't want.  I'm looking at a state-of-the-art new gaming PC complete with 1GB video card, about $900 with OS (monitor not included).  Some of this boxed crap I see doesn't have an Nth the specs, "integrated" graphics, and without the monitor it's still over a grand.

Ugh, yeah, I just learned that. :C
This was the first time I actually got a brand new laptop so I didn't quite know what to expect. But oh god, it had so much stuff installed and nothing worked. Working on commissions 24/7 I didn't even bother to check what was installed in here and now that I did I'm definitely formating this thing. -___-; Not to mention that none of the preinstalled software works. :C

And I usually go with lighscribe's power2go cause I got a legal copy of it this one time I won this free laptop at school. :3

It sounds as though most of your problem is software related, which makes it even worse that your dead system is a laptop.  T'were it a PC, I'd say it would be best to go out and purchase a full-version retail copy of Windows and it would fix most if not all of the software issues with a format and installation of a proper copy of the OS.

... But laptops don't quite take well to real copies of windows.  Those damn reinstall disks they come with in lieu of an OS also have everything to make the touchpad/point work, proprietary drivers, and a plethora of other essential garbage.  It's all designed so that box-retail laptops can't ever be made to function as well as a PC, or upgrade as freely, so that you have to replace the whole damn thing when shit goes wrong instead of upgrade or repair.
