I type this journal with conflicted emotions, but I feel like I need to do this. I am not leaving the furry scene or fandom per se, but I will no longer be an active participant. I still appreciate the furry culture and will always have a furry side to myself. However, over the years I've come to realize that I want to be a part of something where I can not only socialize on the internet, but also socialize IRL and be able to openly say to everyone (like my friends) that I am a part of this. Furry unfortunately does not allow for all of this under my circumstances. I've recently been finding myself being drawn to something that I've been a part of already even before I discovered furry. That is none other than anime and manga.
Anime and manga are what made me want to draw in the first place, but after discovering furry I had a passion to draw furry characters only and never really did draw anything anime related. Now that passion is nearly gone as I find myself no longer excited to post my art and continuously manage my furry accounts. I now have the urge to be a part of a group IRL with close friends that have similar interests. I do have a few furry friends that I talk to on a regular basis online, but that's about it. I can't simply go to Starbucks or something and hang out with them like I want to, nor attend a furry con with them that I couldn't be arsed to try make traveling arrangements for. Anime cons do happen in my area though, and I've recently joined an anime club and made friends there that will be going to these cons. It's not like I want to cosplay now or anything like that, but I figure it would be fun simply to hang out with others at these events.
All this has led to my decision to depart from the furry scene as a furry artist for the most part. Hell, I don't even know if I'll continue to do art at this point, but if I do it'll probably have more focus on anime. If that happens then it doesn't make sense to keep uploading my art onto a site intended for furry art. If anything I'll make a DA account or something to post my art, and it'll probably be on the cleaner side if I ever want to show my art to my friends. That being said though, I find it preferable if I keep my new art separate from the furry art I've done so far, so I will most likely not be linking my DA account or whatever to this account. For those that want to keep following me though despite the change, you can note me here and I'll make sure to send you a note about my new account if and when I create it.
Anyway though, I want to thank everyone who has shown support and enjoyed my art. I really appreciate it and I hope to continue to keep in contact with those who are still interested in keeping in touch. As I said, I'm not leaving the furry scene completely so I'll be checking this account from time to time just to see what's up. My latest submission, the Mithra pic, will be the last submission I finish for this account. After that I will leave everything as it is for those that want to find my furry stuff.
