   "What's the situation, Recruit Raposa?"

Lorelei knelt down in the cold snow, resisting the urge to shiver. Beside her, a few other recruits knelt in the freshly fallen white snow. A couple more recruits that Lorelei was feeling rather envious of were taking cover in the ruined buildings around them. Just ahead of the vixen was her twin sister, Serena, and their instructor.

Lorelei and her sister had been through several weeks of basic already. For the last two days, however, they were doing special training. Their drill instructors had suddenly crashed into their barracks in the middle of the night, yelling at them to get ready, the Kingdom of Feliniad was launching an invasion nearby and they were responding.

There had been mass confusion from the recruits initially, both because the fort they were training at was deep within Empire territory, and the base didn't seem to be reacting quite the way one might expect from receiving such a report.

The recruits scrambled to get dressed, get their equipment and weapons, and get into position in the short time their instructors had given them. Once every recruit was in formation, the slower ones running into their spot with the instructors shouting at them to move it, they were split into squads of ten recruits, then given new magazines for their weapons.  Loaded and ready, the squads split and moved into the woodlands surrounding the fort.

The Raposa sisters, along with the rest of their squad, marched nervously, unsure what to expect. They marched in silence for what felt like hours, every ear perked for any sounds of battle of movement.

"Incoming, ambush!" Their instructor suddenly cried out.

Instantly, all ten recruits dove onto the ground, quickly scrambling to figure out where the enemy was and find some cover. After a couple of very confused minutes, the recruits watched as the instructor pulled a clipboard out of the pack he was carrying. He made a few marks on it before looking around at his charges.

"On your feet," he shouted at them. He pointed westward to where a large hill near the base sat. "We have to take that point before the cats can get to it. Double time!"

For the next two days, the squad moved all throughout the countryside, performing drills, reacting to imaginary enemies, and fighting pretend battles with the blanks the instructors had given them back on base. As the sun peeked over the horizon, the group had emerged from the trees and into a mock village on a high cliff used by the fort for training. They had even been here a couple of times before during other training.

Without a moments pause, the instructor ordered them to take up positions around the cliff. Once everyone was ready, he barked for Serena to move up to the cliff. Lorelei had watched as her sister hustled over to the cliff line, her tail twitching nervously.

Serena had scrambled to the instructor as quickly as she could, wondering what her task would be.

"All right, recruit," he said, motioning over the cliff, "your squad is going to move down this cliff and into the valley. I want you to scout the area and report any dangers you find. Hustle, recruit!"

"Sir, yes, sir," Serena snapped back, almost instinctively, as she dug through her pouches until she pulled out the two pieces of the tactical telescope she'd been issued with her gear.

Serena hastily assembled the device, fumbling a few times from the cold and the instructor's silent appraisal. She wasn't sure if she took too long as the instructor said nothing. He just scribbled a note on his clipboard.

As soon as it was done, Serena went prone in the chilly snow and crawled her way up to the cliff. The vixen peaked over the cliff with her naked eyes first. From where she was laying, she could see more of the fort's training grounds. An entire fake, small village was set up in the valley below them. Serena could see a few vehicles sitting in the streets and what looked like people standing around.

Serena brought the telescope up to her eye and scanned the handful of buildings. The people she had seen turned out to be scarecrows set up in mock Feliniad uniforms. The tanks and trucks were just poor facsimiles.

"Well recruit?" Her instructor prompted. "We're waiting."

"Yes sir," Serena answered quickly. "I can see two trucks on the north side of the village. Seven enemy combatants..."

Serena continued to call out various targets and dangers to the squad, all the while the instructor wrote down everything she said on his clipboard while occasionally pressing her for details like what kind of weapons the enemy had or what kind of vehicles the fox was calling out. The rest of the squad watched from their positions further back, Lorelei hoping her sister was doing all right.

After a couple of minutes Serena scanned the valley one more time before putting the telescope down, announcing, "sir, that's all, sir."

"You're sure?" He asked, not looking at her.

"Yes sir?" Serena answered nervously. Had she missed something important?

"Are you asking me or telling me, recruit?!"

"Sir, that's all, sir," Serena answered, trying to sound more confident.

The instructor stared her down for a few more seconds before scribbling a final note on the clipboard.

"All right squad, form up," he ordered. "We're moving down into the valley."

A little story about Serena and Lorelei training together before having to serve their one year mandatory service. It's very rare for the AI to create a picture of the two of them together and this one wasn't even intentional! Either way, I'm very glad to be able to share this with you all!

They need to put a "you idiot" button on the generator websites that's the equivalent of smacking the computer upside the CPU.  What is going on with her left hand?  Both hands, really.

To be clear, I like your world building, and the characters are pretty.  Its just the strange mistakes the AI generators make...

What about the weapon she's carrying on her right shoulder?  I can't tell if it's supposed to be a rifle or a rocket launcher.

I imagined it more as the telescope she had just been using, kind of resting it on her shoulder. But yes, initially i had no idea what it was either.

Yes, I could see that.  I guess what got me confused is what looks like a trigger on it.  But, the way she's holding it says, "Telescope."

Yeah, lol. Maybe it's some kind of tactical telescope that can signal an artillery strike.

"With extreme prejudice, sir!"

now i kind of want to see them foxes in full power armours taking on the enemy troopers with a little bit too literal/liberal interpretation of the command "fuck"

the "with extreme prejudice" part can still apply correctly for added hilarity
