Admit it, you really went wild with his design! Valentino pin-ups have nothing on this one.Also helps that we're sending this one out on the very eve of Halloween--and only if to wrap things up on the illustrative side of our latest Miraheze FTA. Now, without further ado...

Meet Daniel Cousteau Besson, or Danny the Dog for short. The latter nickname is also the original overseas title of what became Unleashed (2005) in the U.S.; furthermore, he shares his real surname with its writer, Luc Besson. (Middle name's a tribute to Jacques, because of his parents' love for the sea.)

Danny is a silent film buff, without whose knowledge of the silver screen (and several connections his family has) his friend Sam the raccoon would have never known of Ironstone, a long-unseen 1931 Canadian adventure movie shot on location in their native Dominica. (Sam's cousin Alfred knew about it thanks to one of his aunts marrying a relative of its socialite star, Agatha.) Even his looks are something out of his favourite era--to the point where some mistake him for a girl or a pirate--or both. This look always attracted hordes of local onlookers during his annual vacations to Carriacou in the Grenadian Grenadines (where relatives of his live); on one occasion, he was even considered the spitting image of Captain Jack Sparrow. He has even earned the nickname of "Little Valentino" on account of these traits.

"Bi" the way, he is also Sam's very first friend, and the one who made his raccoon buddy explore his orientation during their youth and adolescence. Since the start of 2023, he is now in the caress of Shannon the "Skater Girl" fox, who came into his life when she came into his buddies' Kino Lorber Panama City (KLPC) facilities for a visit (as a fan of their work on the Reflections animated visual albums); as always, special thanks to u/Purespite333 ~

Hopefully, we'll find some space to incorporate his catchphrase ("Aw, poodle!") by the time we concentrate on Unspooled, Volume 1.

This piece, which officially codifies Danny's wardrobe and fur pattern, is the first so far by QueenYami to bear fruit from this early October Projects thread at DeviantART's forums. Made my pitch on the 6th; got what I waited for on the 17th. (Full-res original is currently sought after by this contributor, and will replace what already passes for this copy as soon as it's received.) Good luck to the rest of the requesters!

Long music-nerd alert: Speaking of Reflections, Volume 10--code-produced as "RFB01"--is finally on the way again after a two-year hiatus, with Movement I slated for Paramount+/Pluto TV, Vimeo, and Archive.org (plus various national broadcasters worldwide) sometime by the end of November or the first half of December. (Highlights from past installments have recently transitioned from YouTube [good riddance to their user-unfriendly UI/features/rights maximalism/respect for their smaller-name uploaders/ad-blocker-blocking/ContentID] to Dailymotion, owned by former UMG custodian Vivendi; now you know!) Lineup preparation has been in progress--slowly but surely--since the end of September; three selections have been confirmed so far (after almost a year of endless candidates), and several more will follow this week.

I say "slowly but surely", because attempt after past attempt to refine the system that track KLPC's picks has been hobbled by the sheer amount of technical/feature shortcomings each time; our experiments at the now-defunct Dixwell Dossier at Referata served as our precedent. Back during our ByetHost trials in October 2020, we only got as far as one pilot track listing; in July 2021 (after our move to Miraheze), the inadequacy of DynamicPageList3 (DPL3) was to blame; and by New Year's 2023, AutoCreatePage (ACP) spit out raw parameter tags instead of the actual provided values during an experiment with artist profiles. At this writing, an ambitious retool involving Page Forms + Semantic MediaWiki (SMW) is underway, thanks to me stepping away from my other pet project (the conlang of Tovasala/RFM) to tend to that (and then some). Admit it--a one-man mission like this is pretty much a lot of work...let alone an entire wiki. Which reminds me: More collaborators for the Dixwell tales (
