The Goggles Chronicles
The beeping sound of the computer echoed all over the new laboratory. And the little red light was flashing covering all with a glowing red hue. The young kid on guard looked at the monitor and smiled. His young face had a soft pink skin, his hair was messy and all over his red eyes. He was wearing jeans, boots and a black T-shirt with a flame in the chest. He had a brown jacked with a wolf eared parka tied to his waist. And as always, his head was crowned with his red rider goggles. On his left wrist he had a red clock and on his right wrist he used a spiked black leather bracelet.
“Yo Kaji” sounded thru the monitor screen as a red digimon with brown hair saluted with his right hand.
“Ryu!” smiled Kaji “It’s been a while… how much? Sixty? Seventy years?”
“Many indeed hehe” giggled Ryudramon crossing his arms “You never change… always young, but somehow a bit mature.
“You know our time…” laughed Kaji “It hasn’t even passed a year for us though humans surely have seen lots of changes. Tough as you can see now I look a bit older… maybe one or two years, hehe”
“A~nyway… I’m not just calling to say hi” said Ryudramon changing to a more serious mood “I’ve been working here for a while and… well, in this time WIZ was inactive but recently, like, ten years ago it was reactivated and then shoot down again.”
“I know, I received the info” replied Kaji nodding.
“Well, somehow in a dimension WIZ turned into something called Code Crown…” continued Ryudramon “Until a few months the Code Crown was under the control of a digimon called Shoutmon, apparently he is a descendant of THAT other digimon.”
“Aha… and then?” asked Kaji arching an eyebrow.
“The Code Crown recently regained its coincidence and…” started Ryudramon but the computer sounded on the side marking a warning on the LCD screen.
“Hold on…” Kaji said and read the screen “Ohh… I guess I know what you were trying to say. WIZ is back huh?”
“You catch on quick hehe” smirked Ryudramon and placed his hands on his hips “So, are we fighting him again?”
“Sadly, the others are somewhere else” replied Kaji “I’m the only one here…”
“But we cannot let WIZ be active again if there’s no digidestined to fight it!” roared Ryudramon “You said…”
“I know what I said” reclaimed Kaji “get in the portal, you are coming to my world. If the data here isn’t wrong, WIZ will make his appearance in the realm where it was released this time.”
“But I’m in that digital dimension!” reclaimed Ryudramon.
“I never said it will appear in the digital world” shook his head Kaji “Apparently he’s trying to get into the human world. Maybe he thought it’d be better to take the source of the digital world first this time.”
“So that means I get to go with you?” asked Ryudramon, his eyes glowing in happiness.
“Yep, you get to visit the human world with me hehe” smiled Kaji “Of course, you gotta be careful. Otherwise we’ll be in troubles.”
“But you said that the others are out in missions” replied Ryudramon “Last time we needed to be in digiXross to defeat him!”
“I never said you and I would go alone” giggled Kaji “Now get into the portal and come here dear pal, we gotta recruit some friends.”
Ryudramon didn’t asked again, he jumped into the portal and a few seconds later he was into the laboratory in front of Kaji. The digimon practically bounced to him and hugged his partner releasing some tears.
“I missed ya!” said Ryudramon.
“Hahaha I did too” smiled Kaji hugging his partner “C’mon, lemme tell ya what I’m thinking.”
Kaji and Ryudramon sat at the meeting table and the kid started to expose his plan. Of course, without the others to support them, confronting WIZ head to head was a suicidal mission. The good thing, Kaji had his powers and immortality… the bad thing, Ryudramon didn’t. Being in the human world, a digimon that died… stayed dead.
The plan was simple. Kaji had the ability to move from realm to realm. He had previously “spied” the human digidestined and he knew who were the indicated to work along with him. The ones that were considered “the goggles boys”. So, the plan was to move as quickly as they could and recruit the goggles boys from each dimension and time. They were five in total: Taichi, Daisuke, Takato, Takuya and Taiki. Of course there was another one that could be helpful but until those five weren’t together, Kaji hadn’t planned to go to recruit him.
“So, we get to recruit Taiki first right?” asked Ryudramon.
“Yes, he is the first I need to have to my side since he was created by us” said Kaji standing up “Now we gotta go…”
Both partners walked to a metal platform. According to Kaji, that was the exit of the lab into the external world. He clearly said that they’d leave into a forest in the dimension where he lived. So they had to create a portal immediately to reach the place where Taiki should be.
Ryudramon and Kaji step into the platform. The cold metal made a fainted sound as they walked in. And after they did, a red spiral formed below them creating a vortex that sucked them. They were pushed out the other side of the portal right into a forest with several pieces of a construction scattered all over the place.
“What’s this place?” asked Ryudramon looking around.
“This are the forest ruins” said Kaji smiling “Ally… I mean, Riku and I used to come here to play when we were younger”
“Your sister’s real name?” asked Ryudramon surprised.
“Sorry… when we are here there’s no need to use our pseudonyms” sighed Kaji “But to the other digidestined, our names are those.”
“Why didn’t you use your real names huh?” asked Ryudramon.
“Kaji and Riku sound more like names they would commonly hear don’t you think?” asked Kaji giggling.
“Touché” laughed Ryudramon.
Kaji extended his hand and his palm shone bright red creating a spinning red vortex. He made a sign with his hand for Ryudramon to enter and so he did. Then, the kid entered the vortex that closed after him.
The sun shone bright blinding them. Kaji covered his eyes. The floor seemed to be kinda shaky.
“Where are we?” asked Ryudramon.
“Dunno…” replied Kaji and then they looked where they landed.
Apparently the portal lead them to a tall three into a school yard and they were in the weakest branch. They opened the eyes widely and gasped as the branch cracked. They fall into the bushes below squealing and flailing.
“oof! That was harsh!” moaned Ryudramon rubbing his butt.
“I know…” moaned back Kaji doing the same “Hmm… this looks like the place.”
“A school?” asked Ryudramon.
“Technically Taiki is still a student so he should be here” shrugged Kaji “C’mon, gotta find him!”
Kaji and Ryudramon stepped out of the bushes where they landed, looking everywhere for the chestnut messy haired boy. According with his information, Taiki should be around there since it was time for the recess. The kid looked all over the place, asking the other students if they had seen him, but no one could answer. That was weird. But of course, if WIZ took control again, maybe he was busy in the digiquartz.
“Should we go to digiquartz?” asked Ryudramon.
“Not yet…” shook his head Kaji “We gotta still try to find him. Maybe he’s hiding somewhere. D’ya remember where Shoutmon had the Code Crown?”
“As long as I remember he had it inside him but when he came here he left it in his castle” said Ryudramon thinking.
“That means Shoutmon is safe for now” said Kaji walking into the school like if he were a student, but Ryudramon stayed hidden.
“Kaji, you know I cannot get in there!” squealed Ryudramon “I can be seen!”
“Oh right… I forgot about that…” smiled Kaji extending his D-Zero “Get in.”
Ryudramon was surrounded by a red light and entered the D-Zero.
“Hmm… this is more comfortable than what it looks” he giggled.
“I know” smiled Kaji “I designed it that way.”
Kaji walked in and was spotted by several kids as well as some professors. One of them got close to him and stood in his way.
“Who are you? Do you study here?” asked the adult.
“Ehm… no hehe” said faking amusement Kaji “Actually I’m looking for someone, a friend.”
“A friend? Who is him?” asked the adult.
“His name is Koudo Taiki, he’s a good friend of mine” said Kaji, partly lying since he and Taiki have had only a few chats since he was created.
“Hmm… Taiki-kun huh?” said the adult “Good student. Maybe he is in the roof; he spends a lot of time there with his two best friends.”
“Two best friends?” asked Kaji confused. As long as he remembered his friends were in other schools. But of course, if he spent time with two guys, then adults would think they were best friends.
“Yes, Amano Yuu and Akashi Tagiru” said the professor.
“Thanks!” exclaimed Kaji and ran without taking any more care at the adult.
The roof. There should be him. He knew who Yuu was. He helped the reincarnation of DarkKnightmon previously in the Xross Wars. But who was that Tagiru? Maybe with him around he wouldn’t have the chance to talk openly with Taiki. Anyways, he needed to talk to him. The kid sprinted up stairs and pushed the door to the roof. And there he found him, chestnut messy hair, just like his but longer and sponged. With his goggles in the forehead.
“Finally I found ya!” exclaimed Kaji making the three kids to turn around.
“Who are ya, huh?” reclaimed the other brownish haired guy who wore a blue t-shirt and shorts with tennis shoes “Who invited you? This is a private reunion!”
“Who are YOU to talk to me like that?” asked Kaji annoyed. That same attitude… almost like Daisuke.
“Oi, Tagiru… you shouldn’t talk to him like that” said Taiki worried “If you are not careful playing with fire you might get burn”
“Hahaha nice metaphor” laughed Kaji as his D-Zero shone.
“Oi, is it clear now?” asked Ryudramon.
“What?! Is he a hunter too?!” yelled Tagiru.
“No Tagiru… he…” started Yuu but the hyperactive boy had already took his Xross Loader out.
“C’mon show me what you got there… how many huh? Huh?” yelled Tagiru showing his collection of digimon.
“Tsk! A collector? And with THAT attitude…” sighed Kaji.
“OI TAGIRU!” reclaimed Taiki “This is not time for that. Let him…”
“No, no no…” shook his head Tagiru “Show me how many partners you have?”
“He only have one!” roared Ryudramon popping out of the D-Zero “And it’s me”
“Ou-sama?!” yelled a voice from Tagirus Xross Loader “No… he… looks like him but…”
“Oi, Gumdramon, you should come out” said the voice of Shoutmon from Taiki’s Xross Loader.
All the digimon popped out, Shoutmon, Gumdramon and Damemon. The digimon king didn’t lost time and started the introductions.
“Guys, he’s Ryudramon” said Shoutmon “And as you can see, we look alike too much. That’s because Ryudramon is the original form of my own species.”
“What?” asked Gumdramon in shock.
“He is an original-dame!” celebrated Damemon bouncing from feet to feet “What means he’s way too much for you little rascal-dame!”
“What?! I’m gonna be the most powerful digimon in the…” started Gumdramon.
“Knock it off!” yelled Ryudramon and turned to Shoutmon “Oi, boy, we need your help. You might have noticed already but I’ll tell you anyway. The Code Crown…”
“Lemme tell them ok?” said Kaji smiling and then turning his face into a serious façade “The Code Crown as you know it is actually a reformation of an I.A. named WIZ9000. It’s originally the computer that hosted the digital world but after a series of events, it turned crazy with the greed of humans and decided to eradicate everything in the digital world to bring order to it. My brothers, sisters and I managed to work with our pals to defeat him the first time. Then, some others fought against him and finally his own Royal Knights turned against him destroying his being and turning it into the Code Crown.”
“You mean that what I felt was that think waking up?” asked Shoutmon looking directly at Kaji.
“Yes that’s right” nodded Ryudramon “In the past we managed to beat him and in the process we created a digimon accidentally. His name is Litemon. But now, the others are working in some other cases that we mustn’t leave aside. So we need your help.”
“That sounds dangerous” said Taiki.
“It is” nodded Ryudramon “Last time, he managed to kill all us original five”
“What-dame?!” yelled terrified Damemon.
“Just like you hear” said Kaji “WIZ managed to kill them. Fortunately they were reborn in the Beginning City so we managed to have them back.”
“After hard and painful confrontations we managed to defeat his minions and him but… now…” started Ryudramon.
“I get it” nodded Taiki “Shoutmon, we go.”
“Yeah!” appointed Shoutmon with excitement “Some good piece of fun!”
“Wait!” yelled Tagiru making Kaji flinch from the high pitch. In the human world, his senses were pretty high “If you go on a mission like that I WANNA GO!”
“Tsk… you have THAT attitude…” said Kaji “The same of Daisuke that I barely can stand. It’d be hard to be in a mission with him and having two of the same will be a hell…”
“What?!” yelled again Tagiru as Taiki and Yuu chuckled thanks to Kaji’s words “What ‘attitude’? I wanna go and if I wanna go I’ll go! I’ll be a super star!” he pointed to the sky.
“Yeah! I cannot let two old lizards to take care of this!” replied Gumdramon “I’m the best… I’ll be the most powerful digimon in the world and I’m gonna surpass even Ou-sama itself! I’m gonna do it! Cuz I’m the best!” he got angry “AND I’M NOT GONNA LET YOU TWO GO WITHOUT ME TO DO SOME HEROIC STUFF! I’M GONNA PUT AN END TO THAT WIZ YOU SAID AND I’LL BE THE HERO OF THE DAY!”
Kaji, Taiki, Ryudramon and Shoutmon looked at them. They really had a lot of guts to talk like that. And that was something valuable.
“Aww, ok…” sighed Kaji “Like I said it’ll be a hell to have Daisuke and you but, you got yourself a fine partner kid… You’re in, c’mon we have no time to waist.”
“Wahoo!” yelled Tagiru “Ya heard Gumdramon? We’re gonna be heroes! And we are gonna save the world!”
“Yay!” celebrated Gumdramon.
“But I won’t put myself in the line to protect you two” said Kaji “each one takes care of him and his partner… And the same goes for you Taiki.”
“Don’t worry I’m used to that” nodded Taiki.
“So? Where are we going now?” asked Tagiru smiling “Getting weaponry? Hunting more digimon partners?”
“We go to get some teammates” replied Ryudramon “Only the best of the best… the ones known as ‘The Goggles Boys’”
Kaji opened a portal and they entered into it. And after it closed Yuu looked at Damemon.
“You think they are gonna be fine?” asked Yuu.
“I’m sure they’ll be fine-dame” nodded Damemon “Besides they are with HIM-dame”
“You’re right” smiled Yuu “I just think that if they had taken us with them…”
“Be sincere Yuu-dame” giggled Damemon “They are the ones HE need-dame. We might be strong but not as Shoutmon-dame”
“You’re right” nodded Yuu.
And the portal lead them to a time when the summer was almost finishing. Close to the place known as Hikari Gaoka.
