All wars must end, and all soldiers must either die... or give up. Friedrich chose the latter after his first taste of battle sobered him up. Before now, he was a boastful, arrogant boy, but after only one battle he discovers he is too afraid of dying, and gives himself up to the enemy after three nights pinned down in a trench. On his knees, he raises his arms in surrender and hopes for the best. However, he may soon learn there's worse things than dying.
