Ballad of the Coyote -- A song by Adam Leisemann
Way back in nineteen fifty,
When animation was nifty,
There has come a new star to see
And his name was Wile E. Coyote.
I’ll admit he wasn’t too strong
Nor did he ever get along
With fate. His luck was quite lacking,
But he had gotten quite a fan backing
Oh Coyote, Coyote,
Regardless how it would happen,
You carried on, strong and silent.
Oh Coyote, Coyote,
Again and again and again,
You took it well despite how it went.
Some said that it was hunger,
That made him chase the Road Runner,
But watch those cartoons again, well,
There is a diff’rent tale to tell.
That bird was nobody’s fool.
“Beep beep!,” behind him, that’s cruel!
I think in eight times a word,
He had to get rid of that bird!
Oh Coyote, Coyote,
Regardless how it would happen,
You carried on, strong and silent.
Oh Coyote, Coyote,
Again and again and again,
You took it well despite how it went.
(interlude with sound-bites from various Road Runner cartoons)
Although the cartoons were comic,
There seemed to be something tragic.
The odds shined but his luck would rain
And gravity proved to be a pain.
Yet despite how fate seemed to curse him
And toy with him on a whim,
He always seemed to hold steadfast
And not be bothered by what has passed.
Oh Coyote, Coyote,
How we felt sorry for you
Whenever we envisioned your pain.
Oh Coyote, Coyote
“No pain, no gain,” I guess it is true,
‘Cause it’s quite a fan base you’ve gained.
Oh Coyote, Coyote,
Regardless how it would happen,
You carried on, strong and silent.
Oh Coyote, Coyote,
Again and again and again,
You took it well despite how it went.
