This one is a picture for family, which is to say one of the recently-born nephews of my boyfriend. Or, should I say, more for his parents because the recipient is rather too young to have much of an opinion on it XP. But yeah, here it is anyway! Still might be tweaked depending on the opinion of the bf's family members XP.

Nice shadows, dude. It was a pretty sweet try actually! I think it could've looked better if there were some denser leaf clumps though and the effect might've been enhanced by blurring and stretching the shadow edges a bit along the curves of surfaces like the side of the little dude's head. =3 If you try something like this again I'd be curious to see if that might work well.

I didn't want too much of the colour being desaturated by shadow, so I kept them minimal. Then, since I'm hand drawing them all in SAI I couldn't be arsed making them really accurate or anything. I have added some blur now, though.

Hey, isn't Luigi supposed to have a green cap?

Cute picture btw, until the bird starts pecking at the kid's head, that is.

Love the mottled shadowing....a lovely visual effect, that I guess we don't see drawn very often.

If I try to get that close to birds, even mockingbirds, they bolt ! Once I did, but she was sitting on a nest and I withdrew, not wanting to scare her into abandoning her eggs.
