Venom is an alien character in the Spiderman universe. He(?) has the same shaped eyes as Spiderman (and in the bottom left panel) and the same type of fangs seen there as well. It's the Marvel Comics-created universe where Spiderman is the main superhero. Even though other superheroes of theirs show up, I don't consider them canon to their own comics. Plus, most of Spiderman's nemeses, Dr. Octopus, the Vulture, Lizardman, the Green Goblin, etc., rarely, if ever, show up in the other comics.
