Two teddy bears left at Oiri Park in the Aoba Ward of Yokohama to remember the crash of a US Marine F-4 Phantom fighter next to the park in 1977 that killed the only children of mister Hiro Doshida and seriously burned his wife, who later died in 1982. Yuku was 3-years-old and Yasu was 1-year-old. Two teddy bears for each child.
The investigation found that the left engine of the aircraft was improperly maintained at a facility at El Toro, California which caused the engines' catastrophic failure and explosion which caused the crash. No one was held criminally liable. It took decades for the injured to get any compensation and the US government did not meet with the people who were directly injured nor the family of the dead.
For me, since the aircraft was assigned to my ship, this was a debt owed some measure of payment.
