QUICKIE: Art Class (V1)
Seems Mimi's art class is on the move. Let's see what's happening...

MIMI (cheerful): "Gene, my art class is doing nude studies, and we want you for our subject!"

FIFI: "Oui, oui!" [C'mon, I had to work this joke in]

GENE (assertive): "Nope! Uh-uh! Not happening!"

[a few minutes later...]

GENE (posing nude; annoyed): "Ok, it happened, but I'm not gonna smile!"

MIMI (nonchalant): "That's fine---just be quiet and hold your pose"

[as the girls work, it seems a bee has taken interest in our model... and it shows in the the painting the girls made of Gene]

MIMI (holding her finished drawing): "Thanks, Gene! Once I get this back, it's SO going in a frame in my bedroom!"

GENE (with a sore, stung nose): "Yeah, sure---no problem"

Poor Gene. :(

Anyway, let's see what the girls came up with. Seems each respective artist put a bit of herself in her work.

Cici the Yellow Fox was the only one to bring a paintbrush, so her painting is in color (Ooo!).
Seems Cici captured the moment the bee landed on Gene's finger. Gene, apparently, blew it off.

Fifi inked her sketch. Seems the bee tried again, this time on Gene's hat. It should be content there, yes?

Oh my!

Well, Mimi had a better drawing, but a moment of sudden inspiration resulted in this quick sketch.
Seems the bee wanted to get up close and personal, alighting on Gene's nose. Granted, it's not the worst place it could have landed, but it was rude enough to get Gene to break his pose.

And, yes, to avoid questions about it, there IS an uncensored version ...and if I haven't already shown it to you, you're not ever going to. :3

Pencil...

The featured pencil is a gem! It's a (very possibly) late 1800s 'Artist's Perfected Graphite' '211' model from Joseph Dixon Crucible Company.

I used this pencil to sign my name on this comic, as well the names of the art class.
This pencil is SMOOTH! It's like butter---oh how it glides! D:

This is a SERIOUS pencil for persons who know how to use it ...I would not be such a person, so in the collection it goes (even sharpened, this pencil has value). ^_^

Ok, so I used an AI filter OVER MY OWN ORIGINAL LINE ART, which may be seen here: https://sta.sh/0qch1i3y1lx ...I dropped some dimes. Has anyone seen them (if the 80s come back, I'll need them to make a phone call)?

So... Inkbunny has A LOT of rules for AI art (even when the AI is used as a joke). I'll try to abide by them (here goes)...

1. "Use of open-source AI tools combined with freely-available models is permitted, with appropriate keywords and limits on excessive or commercial use"

What's 'open source'? Everything I used was free (or at least was a free version).

For Cici and Fifi's art, I used: https://goart.fotor.com/

Now, you may say I paid for it least the watermark would be present.
Well, actually, I did this (I just gave myself additional space on the left, so the watermark would be away from the area I wanted to keep, on the right): https://sta.sh/0wwaopstusg

Ain't I clever? ^_^

For Cici's painting, I used the 'Dadaism' filter.
For Fifi's inking, I used the 'Ink Art' filter.

For Mimi's cartoon, I used https://www.befunky.com/
The chosen filter was 'Graphic Novel DLX 2'

Fifi's drawing was a bit complicated, so I drew it on a separate sheet, then traced MY OWN ORIGINAL LINE ART onto the master sheet.
The original original may be seen here: https://sta.sh/02wtz8rhtei

"If you used an AI tool to modify your own work, such as frame interpolation or upscaling:
You must include the original input as part of the submission or as a scrap"

It's linked-to in the description; descriptions are part of the upload, IMHO.

That should do it? I dunno.

That's actually a very clever use of AI and I aprove of it greatly. This is how AI can be use to enhance an artists work. Bravo!

I'm not sure but I MIGHT MIGHT have one of those pencils in a collection of various pencils with a pencil box I got a while ago. It's buried under a TON of 'stuff'*junk*so digging it out would be a project but if I ever do I'll let you know!

Yeah, but a lot of platforms/users are against any use of AI, hence I had to make two versions of this comic (I could post only the traditional one to FA). I get it, but it's kinda a shame. I mean, I hand-drew this whole thing; the filters just augmented the effect/humor (and were also a way to differentiate the girls's illustrations from, well, the ordinary panels of the comic).

Knife has a fancy collection of pencils. :o

You'll never sell/trade with me, so I'm not even going to ask to see them *nose in air*

That said, you do live in a different part of the world from me ...and if you ever did want to sell/trade with me, I'm looking for these: https://sta.sh/07iq8avsl4z

If you find one (unsharpend, preferably), I'll give you $40 USD for it. :3

$40?!
Wow!  Pencils be writing their OWN ticket! (snicker) ;D

Seriously I WILL keep you in mind for any pencils I find though I don't get out as much
so looking for new old ones has slowed down quite a bit.
But thanks for the offer. :D

Don't laugh---Popples pencils are scarcer than some varieties from the Civil War.

I can link you to listings for 1800's square-core pencils right now. Popples pencils? Nope!

To put it in perspective, I contacted a popples super fan who runs a big Popples archive site about Popples pencils.
She replied (in part) with this,

"I have been collecting Popples for over 20 years and have only seen pencils and markers a few times."

So yeah. ^^

Damn.
So they are literally the Holy Grail of the pencil collecting world!
Now I know what to be on the lookout for for real. Thanks. :)
