A few days ago, the video I linked above was posted. The person behind it made a GREAT job at explaining why the entire Kimba vs Simba controversy ended up being a total bunch of shit, as he did something that the 90% of the world hadn't done before - sit down and do a thorough amount of research, debunking conspiracies and citing legit sources, being straight-forward and not at all vague about the information he got and its sources.

Truth be told, I've never watched Kimba. Despite being a furry who's in love with both anime and furry/kemono stuff, I can't for the life of me sit down and watch such a convoluted and weird series. But deep down in my heart I've always known coincidences exist, and I was very upset whenever someone attempted to make me feel bad for liking The Lion King. I enjoyed watching YMS' video not only because of the way it cleared things up and completely obliterated these weak, vague and unprecise arguments a lot of people spew, but also decided to pin Kimba into the same situation using an earlier work from the 40s called 'Simba: King of the Beasts', which shows way more comparisons with Kimba than Kimba does with TLK. I don't believe any of these properties ripped off each other by any means, but it felt good to see Kimba on the receiving end in a humorous way, just so people could see just how bullshit the controversy and its claims were.

(Fyi, I'll be disabling comments soon just in case I receive a massive comments spam in regards to this whole controversy, so at the very least please stay civil and don't yell, thank you. Also due to putting less effort than usual in this pic I'll probably be moving it to scraps sometime later.)

Personally I had not even heard about Kimba prior to being made aware of this war of interests going on between the two fandoms. If I remember it correctly, it was an artist named NostalgicChills over on DeviantArt who were the first person to make me aware of the existence of Kimba. I've never watched the show, but I have seen and heard enough from this whole argument between fandoms to be fed up by it after like five minutes.

The worst thing though is that people, like you mentioned in your post here, does not look into what they are talking about. There are a few posts and articles out there which gives a very detailed and informative breakdown of the Kimba and Simba, which a lot of people seriously need to read. The most notable ones would be the posts made by the aforementioned NostalgicChill.

And let's not forget the most pressing thing; both Kimba and Simba copies the Hamlet story. The ghost is just one of many, many examples of this.

Clearly, they're ALL ripping off the same thing...

The story of a German soldier's pet lion.

The Lion King and Kimba the White Lion are basically the opposite of The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. LOTR and SW had very similar plots, character archetypes, and themes, they had very different worlds, set pieces, and overall look and feel that each felt like their own thing. Meanwhile, TLK and KTWL actually had very different plots, archetypes, and themes but had very similar worlds, set pieces, and overall look, which made it feel like the one that came after was a copy of the one that came before.

Kimba the White Lion is about a lion prince that is orphaned because of human poaching. Brutally, too. His mother, while pregnant with the hero, was actually used as bait to lure his father into a trap. She then gives birth to him on a ship transporting them to a zoo. She helps her son escape but drowns when the ship sinks. The cub makes his way home to become king and grows up to become a pacifist who tries to create harmony between the animals and humans. So, yeah, a very different plot setup and theme from The Lion King.

Why are you calling the series by its dub name? It's Leo, not Kimba. Americans are so weird.

Kimba the White Lion is a censored version that can't show blood. I wouldn't want to be associated with that.
