If you've played Deltarune, you may remember a moment at the end where you can approach a monster priest outside a little church that reveals that, sometime after coming to the surface, the Dreemurrs started attending it, and that Asriel was a part of their choir. I was certainly blown away by this revelation, that monsters might become religious and attend church, but also found it rather cute thinking of Asriel attending and singing in their choir, and being all sweet and enthusiastic about it. It definitely suits his kind personality.
Eileen, fun fact, is also loosely modeled on my real-life best friend in looks and personality, who's Lutheran. So I decided on the extra touch to make Eileen's family that way as well. That's one of Lutheranism's main symbols, the Luther rose, on her hoodie there. (Ironic, given Christianity didn't tend to look fondly upon witchcraft in the past, but I digress.)
Personally I'm an atheist myself, but it bugs me how some of my fellow non-religious folk regard religious people at times, dismissing them all as "idiots," "backwards," "intolerant" and the like. And, yes, of course there are people like that, but it seems extremely unfair to refer to such broad groups of people in such ways. I can't imagine my best friend and I would BE best friends if that was the case.
So I just wanted to do a little something for this time of year, a time supposed to be largely about love and peace. Just because I'm not religious myself doesn't mean I can't understand why someone else would be, so long as they're not hurting anybody... Plus I was just too tempted to draw him this way after remembering that detail from the game XD
