It's a giant mushroom... MAYBE IT'S FRIENDLY! :D

A sprite I did a little bit ago on Furc when I tried getting back into it after not playing for a long time.

Because Furc has asstastic graphical capabilities and those idiots that run it (I have little to no respect for DEP, they're all a bunch of faggots that hate cub porn and make stupid decisions like accounts and charge far out the ass for avatars and the option to have your own custom avatar) will not upgrade to better graphics, the game is literally 8 bit, so this was done in 8 bit graphics.

However, it would probably make an 8 bit console shit its pants because it has over 20 colors and by itself would probably take up massive GPU usage on something like an NES or GG. Not sure about computers that ran in 8 bits... But Dragonspires was around in 92 or something, and that's Furc's precursor.

Anyway, guess the reference in the title. GO ON GUESS :D

8-bit bitmap, GIF, or PNG files can support up to 256 individual colours.

I know. o.o Furc had 256, but the game still looked like ass.

They were gonna update to 24 bit but that never happened because DEP never does anything right.

So they're as ass backwards as Ragnarok Online then.

Locked to 16-bit colour mode processing and can't do any actual 3D lighting features. =/

Furc allows you to create your own graphics and maps so I guess it has to be simple, seeing as it's basically a text RPG but support for more colors would be nice, you can't get certain colors to work with their current setup, it annoys me.

Also they're pretty ass-backwards and pretty shitty at managing. And if you bitch about it, they give you some sob-story about BOO HOO WE ONLY HAVE 16 EMPLOYEES WORLDWIDE AND 7 OF US LIVE IN THE SAME HOUSE AND WE'RE ALL SO HELPLESS.

Yes, indie devs don't have the resources big companies do, but every other indie dev I watch doesn't bitch and moan because someone suggested they improve their game. Or at least stop being dickholes.

They sound an awful lot like Gravity's management (barring the ease of access to custom graphics and maps).

Gravity's server software is really badly managed, to the point where the custom made private server software which performs the same task is literally over 500% more efficient at managing resources (and it's STILL badly written!).

Yet when their servers lag, who do they blame? The damn ISP, not the fact that their server software has been basically stuck at alpha stage since 2001.

Yeah that's Furc, now imagine that with no client-server software, like an MMO. :l

Also imagine a bunch of idiot moralfags running it that hate cub porn to the point where anyone with a child avatar in an 18+ area gets banned. >_> Furries have no right to judge fetishes with the social status they're all given, they should be just as open-minded about it as they want people to be for them.

This is probably why RO has so many private servers. Due to the user attitudes of the official servers.

Furcadia users are generally as asinine as the admins are, they think they're better than everyone else, at least the ones on the forums do. I suggested lowering the prices on their site and they bitch because I don't compete in contests for money. I don't do gambles, and charging $150 for a god damn dragon is ludicrous anyway.

Not to mention the Beekins are the most entitled, self-important fucks of mods and helpers you'll ever meet.

Because of that community, I no longer play online games where I can't put my sword through another player. Even on my Minecraft servers, I keep PVP on, it clears the air really fucking fast.

I don't like PVP but I do like taking my revenge on people like Furc players. I think that was the problem sometimes, not being able to kill the other player without RP and most of them were twinks anyway. :l

You would love private RO servers, I bet.

Pretty much every single one has PvP and duel functions. And they tend to have decent communities anyway.
Kazekai

Probably, I've found that good MMO communities and PVP are synonymous.

Indeed. I just worry when economies center on it.

Yeah, war is expensive and so are medical bills. :V

I meant MMORPG economies. xD
Kazekai

Oh, my experience with MMO economies is that you should never implement player-run markets. That's a sure way to ruin the economy with inflation. :V
Flygon

If you ask me, it is that you should implement both taxes and make it hard to get money.
Kazekai

Or just make people quest/grind/explore for gold and tell them not to bitch. :V
Flygon

The problem is when it becomes TOO easy to get money, causing hyperinflation.
Kazekai

Some people like hyperinflation- Oh wait you mean money.

"Friendly Mushroom!  Mushy giant friend."  *bows to the mushroom and waves sideways to it*

While the politics behind this piece might not be so hot, as well as the piece being over two years old, it's made up for with this reference.  And the fact that it's exactly that; a mushroom.  Maybe it makes your mind move slow.

If you get that reference, I'll be very happy.

I don't, sorry. D: (Unless you're referring to the type of mushroom)

It's old art I did on a game called Furcadia when I still cared about it. Wanted to make a mushroom dream for some reason. I really like mushrooms.

Actually, the quote about the mushroom making your mind move slow comes from the song "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane, which is about Alice in Wonderland.

Very cool.  Mushrooms are interesting things.
