when these two met it wasn't really wasn't on good terms. Of course there was a battle, Kurisu tried to talk to her in a civil manner but based on what happened in her past it wasn't going to happen. How he is able to understand pokemon is that he has the DNA of a pokemon because of his father injecting him with that DNA of a Lucario, what it does is it makes him Stronger and has some abilities of a Lucario, later on the evil member of a dark group increased the DNA in his body to try to control him but failed, the side affect he can become a Lucario now well back to the story. What kinda stopped her from attacking him was a strong Physic pokemon. It took both of them to take it down but it ended with the young man injured badly.
