Damn drawing tablet!

So I had planned on getting some proper work done this weekend but due to me getting a new pc I've had to reinstall alot of things, all of which seem fine so far except for my damn tablet.   I remember it taking me some time to get it calibrated and set just right for my digital drawing needs last time and naturally I didn't make a single note about what I did back then so the process has started all over again.

I've managed to get rid of the annoying pop up menus and un-needed mouse style functions (when I wanna use menus etc my proper mouse is right there) but I still can't get the pen pressure to work right and according to the tablets properties its doing what I want it to with light brushes being soft small lines and hard presses giving me big bolder lines but for some reason in photoshop specifically I get nothing but big bold lines no matter the pressure and for the life of me cannot figure out why.   I've gone through all the brush settings and yet no changes to the pressure.

As someone who's used photoshop extensively for over a decade I like to believe I'm incredibly familiar with the software but who knows maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Or my crappy intuos 3 wacom is faulty, who knows.

I have the latest drivers, I'm running windows 7 and using Photoshop CS2.

If someone can help please do, I really want to start drawing again after a week or so of not being able to and this is proving most frustrating.
