Creating a Fursona

I've been hanging around here for a while and before that I just kind of browsed Furaffinity for a while. I never got to making a fursona for myself. It took me a while to accept that I am a furry and I'm still really shy and nervous about admitting it to people, but that's not the purpose of this post. I've decided I'm trying to figure out what would fit me. I like tons of animals, but I'm not exactly sure what would fit me or feel right. So I want to pose a question to my *looks* 4 watchers, how did you all figure out what you would look like as a furry? I've been thinking about this for a bit and I'm just really shy and nervous about doing it since I really want something that will be a reflection on who I am.

I thought about my fursona along time ago actually , I went off of my favorite animal and made some changes to fit my characteristics , that's what I recommend

I don't know if you already figured out, but figured I would speak up! I figured it out by doing RP, and seeing which animal style I enjoyed the most hehe. Generally, we like to exaggerate obvious characteristics of each animal type (such as huge mouse ears), so you kind of can pick the exaggerated characteristic you like best, and then the corresponding animal might work!

my fursona is based off my personality X3 OOO is basically my personality incarnate :3 colorful, happy, fun, silly, pervy, and sweet and kind~ hes small because i wanna be small inrl, but cant, and then i found a species on league of legends, yordle, that dosent grow past 2'6 and put that unto him X3 the other additions, like scarftail and four ears were spur of the moment, but they stuck over time, and are now defining factors of him too X3

My fursona is based on design. I took many of the elements that I favor on characters that I love and applied them to him, while also coming up with a color scheme for him and a general them.

He doesn't have a set specific species.. in fact, his species is chimera and completely mixed from a bunch of different species that I like. Instead, to me it's always important that a character has a story, so I was sure to equip him with one that at least explains how he came together, where he was born, and where he lives.

As a persona/fursona, the tastes, traits and mannerisms I have transfer over to him. So technically you would not need a special story for your own fursona; they could simply be you in a furry form. But that's all a decision that you may need to consider while creating one. |3

Be sure to look around, find elements of characters you really like, find colors that work and you enjoy, and decide if a fantasy or real life story is suitable for you, and save them for a person who can work with you to create your fursona. :3
