Was at a certain person's house recently, after helping him clean up his yard - and going to the shops late at night in bad weather, because that's awesome fun - and I asked him if he still had a computer.
"Do you still have that old Macbook thing?"
"Nah, had to give it back. It was my sister's school's."
"Damn it, I was gonna give you a whole bunch of movies and stuff. You don't really have anything to do here, do you."
He pauses for a sec. Then points at a cabinet. "Open that." So I do. There's a single box in there.
"Uh. There's just a DVD case of Glee."
"Yeah. That's the movie cabinet. It's really full, isn't it."
Poverty really fucking sucks. It's always sobering to realize how lucky you are financially, even if you're barely scraping by yourself.
Edit - Obviously, there's a lot worse than not having any movies or DVDs. But that's not the only thing wrong with that house. I could tell you all much worse. I'm just not going to.
