Working on my Stream Page - now you can see the song title I'm playing!

by
*SUPER SQUEEEEEE!* ^______^

I just figured out how to display the currently playing song on my stream page. All without any special winamp plugins or server junk. I just made a simple AHK app to get the title of winamp. You can set winamp's title to be the currently playing song. This title is then written to a file in my public dropbox folder. Then I have a javascript running on my stream page which uses an XMLHttpRequest() to download this text file on my dropbox. The text is this displayed on my page ^_^ Kee heee!! So easy!

Why did I do this? I did this because I heard some really cool music on one artist's stream. I kept asking and asking for the song title or at least the artist name. I got completely ignored -_-  So instead of getting angry, I decided not to be like this artist and decided to do something to help those people that really like the music I play get some info about it without any worry about being annoying or repeating themselves.

The song titles are now displayed at the top of my page as plain text for easy copying. I'm also working on making a little popup for a playlist of songs I've played during the stream.

If anybody would like me to make my app available or would like to know how to what I did, just ask ^.^ I can make a tutorial page about it and you can easily go to my site on dropbox and study the source code of it too.

Neat! Do you have anything set up for when you're using Pandora, too, or can you not make a similar hook into its song titles?

YAY what an awesome idea!! It should somehow be made mandatory for any artist that streams music :)
