The Rabbits are Coming, Hooray Hooray!

originally this was going to be a comment on KrazyElf's hotly anticipated Love and Quills 2 (please read, it's good) but as I was typing it up i realized all of what I had to say doesn't have much to do with the comic inherently. but rather in the sense that LaQ1 is what convinced me (very reluctantly so) to dive into this "rabbit hole" so to speak. making an inkbunny account. it's a decent comic and given more production value it could be a great comic. but i don't know if that's really important to me. im starting to see that this is a lot bigger to me than just art quality. i mean i kind of knew this going in, but it's a strange concept. sonic characters being sexy. like, first of all: their designs are toon which clashes with anatomical details you would want in smut. how can you balance those things? second of all: how do you become inspired to do something like this in the first place? what would you draw from other than your own lust?

it's been >20 months and i don't think i have found any good answers to those questions. in all this time i would say 30% of the content on this website that pops into my search and my submissions wall has to be blocked by artist or by keyword. and that's just to clear out basic quality control. 30%  of the content on this website is made up of 12 year olds who opened up MS Paint and have neglectful parents, some rando who downloaded KabalMystic into GMod or SFM and thought it looked good (at least use blender for christ sake), and unfortunate people who can't finish a drawing because it makes them too horny just thinking about it. and it'll take you probably a good 3 months to filter all those people out if you're diligent but you can do it because the tools for filtering on this website are actually very powerful. if nothing else i have to commend that. but after those 30% it doesn't get much better. 60% of the content on this website is BORING. single subject, zero background, zero depth, zero shading, zero detail, zero color, just a sketch. and it's basically impossible to get anything out of that. it's not fair, i would probably disqualify this group because even good artists on this website have posts like this! there's no way to avoid them, you have to at least scroll past the thumbnail of these ones 5 times a day. and then you have the 10% of actually good, well-thought out drawings, renders, comics, whathave you. Love and Quills 2 is in this 10%. I consider the posts that I've 3★'d to all be in this 10%. It's quite good and I'm proud of the people who create them. BUT. even in this 10% the vast vast majority of posts are still just smut. sure, if you can acquire a taste for it, you can jack off to it. but is that it? that's as far as this can be pushed?

and this is where it wheels back to Love and Quills. when i read  that i was very blown away by how KrazyElf could write organic-feeling dialogue and could build up to the sexy part like that. i never thought that people in this crowd could actually behave themselves; and for once, i considered that i was wrong about how creepy sonic fans appear to me. Love and Quills actually has a narrative. but I ask you this, what is it's narrative? i mean beyond sonadow and it's warm and fuzzy feelings. is this story trying to say anything emotionally resonate? i wish it weren't true, but all signs point to no. this isn't poetic, it's just pornographic. and maybe that's okay for you. maybe you're perfectly happy with shamefully opening inkbunny.net incognito every week. but if that's all this is, why did we leave google images? what did i learn from this experience?

i learned that i should quit inkbunny.

small addendum: servidasis is really the only exception to this. there are one or two posts from some people but it's so far and few between and i really don't think I'll be coming back to this website. i tried to enjoy it here, but this is just really not for me.
