In serious need of help (Don't worry, not money, just advice)

Alright, my faceting is on hold until the rusty gears of the free market and the postal service grind their way to completion. As such, I've decided to focus on my novels. I just don't know which one to work on. I will give a brief synopsis of each below and ask for an opinion favoring one or the other. This doesn't guarantee I'll finish that novel first. I just have ideas for both and want to be somewhat productive. Count yourselves lucky. Absolutely nobody has gained such insight into my work prior to now.

Novel 1:
Fantasy fiction novel intended for young adults. Based in a world almost bereft of technology. There isn't a caste system per se, but your station in society tends to be determined by your access to useful skills. On top of that list is magic, which is broken into many different schools. The dominant species in most of this world is humans, but other races do exist. I don't want to give too many details, but there is war, bloodshed, treachery, and intrigue. Unlike in other such novels, the main character doesn't gain some ancient, incredible, or otherwise unbeatable power or artifact. He simply uses the skills he has along with his intellect to do what must be done. He lives in a country of relative high living standards and a lot of power. Slavery is illegal, equal rights to all sentient beings is ensured, and the land uses its status as an economic and strategic powerhouse to.enforce these standards on less than willing neighbors. A combination of newly unearthed magics, greedy, treacherous politicians, and a coalition with some of the foulest creatures in the world will thrust the main character into the unenviable position of being a key player in a war where he scarcely even understands what the full stakes are, or how many people's lives and freedom rely on him.

Novel 2:
Science Fiction all the way. Earth is now a carefully maintained preserve with very few human inhabitants. Most of the human race has moved to enormous space citadels or to a few suitable worlds for terraforming, all within a few dozen light-years of Earth. As is expected with human nature, these colonies have splintered into several factions, each at odds with the others, vying for influence and control. Unbeknownst to most of the squabbling leadership, two alien races have discovered the human society. One is benevolent, intending to uplift humanity, help us overcome the flaws evolution has ingrained in us, and make us a part of the galactic community. The other race is also benevolent, but they believe that humans are corrupt, evil, and dangerous beyond redemption, and therefore seek to purge them from the universe to save others from the inevitable chaos we will reap. Beneath all this is a secret society operating in all of the various human factions. They are aware of both alien races and their goals. They will do whatever it takes to make sure that the human race continues. The two alien races have a strict nonaggression pact, so they can only interfere. The race hoping to save humans has given this society extraordinary technology that they are to use to further their goals. The main character is one of these people. How he joined? Shady. The morality of his missions? Ambiguous. All he can be sure of is that he can be sure of nothing, including his comrades.

So, that's about as good a synopsis as I can give. Please let me know which one seems more interesting to you. I will work on both eventually, but indecision is preventing all progress. Your aid is invaluable. A shout-out would also be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Not even my mate or my mother have been given anywhere near this level of detail. I've been playing my cards very tight to my chest. It goes against my nature to reveal so much about a private project, so I'm hoping this will pay off and give me some direction.
