This was a rotoscope animation done for my Intermediate animation class. I REALLY wish I didn't have such a short deadline. I really would have liked to finish it 100% and how it was originally supposed to look.

Ah well.

You chose a 1940s era movie as the basis for this animation.  That's interesting.  I can't remember which movie it's from but I recognize the dance routine.

"Broadway Melody of 1940" with Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell. I'm a sucker for Fred Astaire and 1940s tap routines, so when my animation professor told us we were doing rotoscope animation, I knew what I wanted to do haha!

Yeah.  I watched a video about Max Fleischer (he invented the rotoscope if I recall correctly).  Well, actually, I believe it was about Betty Boop.  Anyway, it said that was the reason the movements of his cartoon characters looked so natural.  Fred Astaire was one of the top 3 male tap dancers of that era.  Another was Gene Kelley.  Gene Kelley could dance with anyone, even a cartoon mouse and cartoon crows.  LOL.

He did indeed. I got my BFA majoring in animation, so i'm well aware of my history. ;3
Yeah I was gonna do The Babbit and the Bromide scene from Ziegfeld Follies so that I could animate both Astaire and Kelly, but I really wanted to draw Rin dancing as well, and so went with Astaire and Powell. If not Powell I would've gone with Ginger Rogers especially since their scene in Swing Time had Rogers in heels so fit the digitrade feet look, but I felt like the scene I chose was more fun.

It's rare when I think digitigrade feet look good on an anthro character but this animation is one such situation.  The reason I feel this way is because I always think that digitigrade characters look like they're about to fall over.  LOL.  But, I do understand the reasoning behind it.

I love em. :) Another way to separate them from looking too human.

Yeah.  That's true.  My "anthros", however, are genetically engineered using human and animal DNA.  So, they have a lot of human qualities, including being plantigrade and tailless.  Of course, they also have a certain percentage that also carry heritage traits, tails, no human hair on their head, digitigrade, etc.

Yeah I get that. Seeing anthros with no tails sorta bugs me like in many shows (Bojack for example) but I can get over it. ;p
I used to draw my anthros plantigrade cuz I didn't know how to draw digitrade, but over time I got it.

I know what you're saying.  I guess I'm just too logical because I know what tails are used for in mammals (all of my anthros are mammals) and I can't see any reason for a tail on an anthro mammal.  LOL.  Anyway, here's a couple of links to two drawings of my Amanda Fuchs character.  One is canon and one is fantasy and along the lines of most artists and their anthros.  Tell me what you think of them.  This is the canon drawing:  https://inkbunny.net/s/1219152 and this is the fantasy drawing:  https://inkbunny.net/s/1560894.

Eh, the realistic animal heads/faces are hit or miss usually for me, like I like em sometimes, and others they're distracting. Charr from Guild wars have digitrade and more animalistic features so they work, whereas Khajiit in Elder Scrolls are somewhat distracting, but I get over it so that I can play Khajiit lol
