Chapter 71 - The Guardians Performance

Remaining on the port side of the ship, Chris and the girls kept their gaze focused on the city as it shrank behind them, eventually succumbing to the misty haze of the horizon as they continued rubbing him on the back, save for Alicia who was brushing his cheek with her tail. "Well, it's gone." he sighed, looking at the sea now surrounding them. Looking at the Pokedex still in his hand, Chris chuckled and tucked it away in his pocket, looking up and down the deck at the crowds walking along. "So, wadaya think girls? Was it a good choice for our first cruise?" he asked as they looked around themselves with a nod. "And first class no less, again, I'm impressed." Alicia nodded. "It nice. Really like the ocean. It nice I don't have to imagine what world looks like now." Serenity smiled, holding his arm and resting her cheek against his shoulder causing him to jolt and blush slightly. "I like it. But not really because of what it looks like. Mainly because I'm getting to do something so nice with someone like you." Rose smiled, looking up at him with a smile causing Chris to blush all the more, Alicia looking at the girls and his response to them with a scowl on her face. "Yes. That too." she agreed, looking away for a moment as Chris looked at the frustrated snake. With a smile, he reached up and gave Alicia a rub on the cheek. "As long as you're happy, I'm happy." he chuckled causing Alicia to blush slightly herself before pushing his hand away and waving her hand with a smirk. "Alright, alright. So we're just going to remain here are we?" she asked, causing Chris to shoot up with a gasp. "Crap, the captain!! We're supposed to meet with the other passengers up at the bow of the ship!!" he panicked, subconsciously lifting Rose up under his arm and pulling Serenity by hers, the two girls looking at him in surprise and shyness combined as he raced towards the front of the ship, Alicia keeping a firm grasp on his shoulders. Once they arrived, Chris quickly turned a final corner, only to find himself running into something and bouncing back in surprise. "My word lad, the excitement is commendable but do be careful. We don't want any injuries aboard the girl on her first trip!" he heard a gruff old voice say, only to look up with a groan and see the captain standing right in front of him with his hand out. "Oh... My..." he muttered, quickly shooting up with a bow as the girls stood rubbing their heads. "I'm sorry!! Really sorry!! Soooo so so sooo sorry sir!!" he panicked, the girls looking at him in surprise before facing the captain. "Ha ha, no need for all that now. Just be glad you ran into me instead of right over the railing! No more running now, understood?" he chuckled, patting Chris on the shoulder before pausing and looking at his face up close. "One moment... Now who have we here? Can it be the man of the hour himself?" he asked, looking Chris over before smirking and letting out a sudden laugh. "Well I'll be!! We've got the rebel himself aboard our maiden voyage!! A hearty welcome to you lad, Chris correct?" he asked, offering his hand again for a shake as Chris blinked in surprise.

"You uhh... You know me, sir?" he asked, the captain nodding while looking over the girls. "Oh yes yes, both I and the crew are familiar with you and your deeds back in Millennium, quite an adventurous young man you are! We know much about these fine Pokemon by your side as well, your partners in crime and fellow heroes. I must say, this is a grand surprise! A modern day legend in the making is traveling aboard my ship on her first voyage!" he grinned, giving him a pat on the back. "Do come along! I'm on my way to meet with the passengers. I take it you were heading in the same direction?" he asked while walking ahead, Chris nodding and looking at the girls with a shrug before following. "My name is Captain Rostron by the way! It was my grandfather, captain of the R.M.S. Caterpithia at the time, who received the distress call from the R.M.S. Arceanic the fateful night we lost her. He was a brave man, pushed his ship three and a half knots above what she was intended to handle to reach the coordinates he was given, speeding through treacherous miles of ice. Just over three hours later he arrived, but sadly there was no ship... No survivors to be found. He spent hours searching miles of sea, with crew and passengers alike desperately trying to find someone... ANYONE who may have survived, but they never had any luck. Not a speck of debris either... When word spread about the intended course for the Guardian's maiden voyage, that's when I knew I had to take charge as her captain and pay my respects." he revealed, Chris looking at him in surprise as they arrived at the crowd of first class passengers waiting on the bow. "Do take care now! I'm sure we'll see one another plenty during this fine voyage." he smiled before heading into the crowd, welcoming the passengers and shaking their hands. "Huh... So help DID arrive for the ship... Maybe they were told the wrong way to go or something?" Chris muttered. "Is that the same ship you've been obsessing over?" Alicia asked, raising an eyebrow. "Oh, yeah. Remember that painting back at the mansion? It's the same ship." he nodded. "Something THIS big disappeared? That's scary..." Rose added, looking around nervously before clinging to Chris's arm. "That's not gonna happen to us is it?" she asked, looking up at him in concern. "Ha ha, no way. Not a chance. Besides, if anything bad DID happen you can bet I'd make sure you girls came out a-ok." he assured, rubbing her on the head. "What about you? You have to come out okay too!" Serenity scowled, clutching his other arm with an irritated look on her face. "Y-yeah yeah, no worries! We don't even need to have this topic so chill." he laughed nervously, Serenity and Rose nodding and taking a step back from him while Rostron stepped up in front of the crowd and began his speech about the voyage.

"Ladies and gentlemen! Welcome aboard the S.S. Guardian, the first ship in the world that relies not on fuel, but instead the purest energy of all, the radiant light that gives life to all in this world!" he said, pointing towards the panels towering above and the sun in the sky. "As you should already know, this maiden voyage has been arranged to pay our respects to one of, if not the greatest marine disaster in modern history. One hundred years ago this very day, the R.M.S. Arceanic set sail for Arcticu Valley, along the very path we now sail in her honor. As a notice before our arrival at the site, I cannot emphasize enough that under NO circumstances are ANY passengers to drop items into the sea upon our arrival. It doesn't matter what the objects may be nor' their purpose. The site is a grave, and any passengers caught throwing objects into the sea WILL be confined to their quarters for the remainder of the cruise and will find themselves heavily fined upon our arrival at Arcticu Valley. There are many organisms in the water that, if given the chance, will feed off anything tossed into the sea, causing the Arceanic, wherever she may be, to suffer all the more. I want to be perfectly clear on this and emphasize how strictly you will be punished if you choose to disobey this rule." he warned everyone, the passengers nodding respectfully. "With that out of the way, I am honored to take the helm of the S.S. Guardian during her maiden voyage, and I look forward to providing all of you a safe and fun filled journey across the great sea! Please enjoy your first class voyage and don't hesitate to visit me and my crew in the bridge during the allotted times, an experience exclusive to only our finest guests!" he added before stepping down to continue greeting passengers and explaining their benefits. "I like that human. A grave is a place one should always respect, be its location land or sea." Alicia nodded. "Grave... It where people die, shouldn't put trash on grave. He right." Serenity agreed. "Funny though, didn't know there was stuff in the ocean that eats ships. I thought they just kinda naturally disintegrated over time." Chris added. "Still, it's good they wanna keep the location clean. In a way it isn't entirely bad it hasn't been found yet, can you imagine what tourists would do to the wreckage? Then you've got thieves and museums that would tear it apart for personal gain and just so they can show off stuff from it like it's some kind of attraction... I don't care who would take something from it, they'd all be dirty grave robbers just the same to me." Chris said with a stern look on his face, crossing his arms as the girls looked at him in surprise. "You take the most random things so seriously." Alicia pointed out. "It's good though, it shows you've got a good heart and know what stuff should be respected most." Rose smiled, holding his hand again as Serenity nodded, taking a moment to open her cases and check over her instruments.

"That's an interesting statement. By chance, do you have relatives that were lost aboard the Arceanic?" they heard a girl ask, only to turn and see Sally and Victoria. "Oh! Hey there! You're first class too?" he asked, shaking their hands before laughing nervously. "I'm sorry, if I'd known you two were heading this way we'd have helped you. Sorry for running off like we did." he apologized, the girls nodding as the two waved their hands. "No need to worry, we can get around just fine on our own, the boarding was the only hard part. So, about the ship?" she asked again. "Oh, no. None that I know of. It's just how I feel about the matter is all. What about you?" he asked in response. "Yes, our relative was the bandleader aboard the ship, his name was Wallace. I hear he was an extraordinary musician, one our family tells was unrivaled during his time in this world, a man of the utmost bravery too. I was told he often vowed he would play a special song if he was ever to experience such a disaster." she explained, pausing while looking out at the sea. "I bet he did his very best to bring peace to those aboard that ship until the very end. I do wish I could have met such an extraordinary man." she added, Victoria smiling and nodding at her words. "Hey Chris...?" Serenity asked, tapping him on the shoulder, getting his attention. "Since this ship is going to Arceanic ship, that mean most humans on this one have family that died?" she asked, the girls suddenly looking around as he did the same. "Oh yeah, hadn't considered that. I heard where the ship sank, or supposedly did anyways, has been illegal for people to go near for a long time. This is probably their one and only chance to pay respects like this." he nodded. "I'm sorry for bringing up something that made you think of such a sad thing. I hope it doesn't ruin your cruise." Sally apologized. "Oh, don't worry about it! I came on this cruise because I wanted to do the same thing as all the others here, relatives or not. And something was just, ah, nagging me to tag along too you could say." he smiled. "Well, you're a very kind young man. We're glad to be aboard this vessel with you." Victoria replied with a bow, Chris and the girls looking at one another and bowing in response. "Thanks but no need for that. If either of you need anything, feel free to give us a shout whenever you see us around! And if we come across you, we'll be sure to offer our help as well." he smiled in response, shaking both of their hands. "As far as what we should do now, ah, I guess finding our room should be top priority." he added, looking around and taking out his paperwork and tickets. "The same with us actually. We were just as eager as you lot to do a little looking around. Do take care now!" Victoria waved, Sally doing the same before heading off. "You so sweet." Serenity giggled, cuddling against his side causing Chris to nearly drop the papers in his hands. "G-geez, haven't you girls been all over me enough yet?" he chuckled, rubbing her on the head before walking along the deck. "Excuse me, a moment before you leave!" they heard a familiar voice shout, turning to see Captain Rostron walking up with a wave. "We... Haven't done anything wrong have we? Is it about running into you?" Chris asked in surprise. "Oh no no. I just wanted to compliment you and your Pokemon on what you lot were saying just a moment ago, about our policy when we arrive at the Arceanic site and your thoughts about the ship, being honored as a grave and such. Very touching of you lad." he smiled. "Whilst our other guests focus on their luxurious experiences, a-as they should mind you, it was refreshing to see you lot speaking about the wreck as you were. I respect you for that." he nodded. "Oh? Oh! Uh, wow. Thanks captain, sir!" Chris quickly replied with a solute. "Ha ha! Dear man, I'm not that kind of captain. This isn't the navy! I appreciate the courtesy though, but please be at ease. We're casually chatting, nothing more. Duty calls however, so I must be on my way to the bridge. I hope you enjoy your time until we see one another again!" he chuckled, patting Chris on the shoulder before walking away leaving him standing in silence, the girls blinking at him curiously as he suddenly grinned from ear to ear. "My my, would you look at those teeth." Alicia smirked, Serenity and Rose smiling as well. "Like talking to captain human?" Serenity asked. "You bet! We haven't been here that long and already the friggin' captain is complimenting us! This is pretty sweet." he laughed. Walking ahead of the girls and trying to figure out the information about their room again, the girls stood behind for a moment while continuing to smile. "It's great he's cheering back up again. I was worried about him after we left the city." Rose told the others. "He have big heart. Easy to make it hurt, like when leaving other humans he care about. But because it so big, lots of ways to make it happy too." Serenity nodded. "He wears his heart on his sleeve, but hey, that's another lovable thing about the big oaf. I'd take a male who shows how he feels with pride rather than one who keeps himself cold and distant any day." Alicia added, chuckling before the three quickly followed.

Heading below deck via the first class entrance, Chris and the girls found themselves standing at the top of an extraordinary grand staircase, one that made their eyes widen in awe. "No way, this is...!!" Chris paused, quickly taking out his Pokedex and fidgeting with the controls before the hologram light flashed on. "Please voice command." the device said. "Umm, can you show us the Arceanic staircase?" he asked, the device remaining silent. "Result found. Displaying R.M.S. Arceanic grand staircase." it replied, revealing its blueprints before displaying the staircase itself. "I knew it!! It's just like the pictures in the books the elders showed me!!" he grinned excitedly, feeling along the rail while making his way down with the girls, looking at the dome above. "They built a replica into the Guardian... No way. It's a lot bigger though but still." he muttered, looking at the original displayed on his Pokedex and comparing it to the replica. "This one's made of marble instead of wood too, and the railing looks like it's made of gold even." he added, the girls stopping and looking at the wall featuring a huge plaque where the clock was in the original, an angel standing on both sides holding up the R.M.S. Arceanic as if lifting it towards the sky. "Stairway to heaven. In commemoration of the S.S. Guardian's maiden voyage to honor the R.M.S. Arceanic's 100th anniversary, lost April 15th 1912." Chris read aloud. "There's more way up there." Rose pointed out, the group looking up where a line of text could be seen above the Arceanic in gold. "My God that raiseth me in mercy, let the way unto heav'n appear." he muttered, looking over everything on the wall. "Now THAT'S some fancy stuff. Holy cow." he added, turning and heading down the rest of the stairs before looking around. "Alright, so our room should be..." he thought to himself, looking at his paperwork again and glancing down the various corridors. "Ah!! That's the one." he smirked, guiding the girls along. "In here you forget on ocean." Serenity muttered, looking at all the doors. "It's weird, you don't feel like we're moving at all really. Maybe a little, but it's like we're not even on water." Rose agreed. "As it should be! If a ship has a first class option, it must live up to first class expectations! The wealthy do not want to feel every tiny wave the ship runs across. It's expected to sail as smooth as butter." Alicia explained with her head held high. "You watch a ton of TV so I guess you should be expected to know that." Chris smirked, giving the snake a poke on the cheek to tease her as she scowled. "Alright, so we've passed that section. Gone here a little ways, so that means our room should be around here." he muttered while looking around, letting out a sudden "ah-ha!!" and pointing out their door at last. "Not open." Serenity pointed out while trying to get inside, pulling the knob in frustration. "Easy, easy! We've gotta use this, see?" he explained, pulling a card out of a tiny envelope he had been given during the boarding process. "Just put it in here, give it a slide and..." he paused, swiping the card in the scanner before pushing the door open.

"Tadah! Welcome to your home on the sea!" he grinned, the girls walking in and noticing the plush red carpet beneath their feet. "Ohhh that's soft." Rose sighed, getting on her hands and knees to feel around before laying on her stomach, Serenity rubbing her feet about while walking along. "That does feel good. Not need bed with floor like this." she agreed. Slithering off his shoulders, Alicia gave the floor a feel for herself, laying on her back with a stretch. "It actually does feel nice. Not bad." she nodded. Looking around, the room definitely had a Victorian look to it, more-so than their room at the manor, with its walls and overhead made of dark wood panels and an antique brass chandelier in the center of the room as well, hanging in the center of their own overhead dome. "Definitely artistic, this is Arthur and Angela's place on a whole other level! ...Ooohhh better never let them know I said that." he laughed nervously, the girls nodding in agreement. "Lots of switches over here. Wonder what they do?" Rose asked, answering her own question as she turned the chandelier off leaving the lights built into the walls and overhead on, then adjusting the other switches revealing all of the other lights were controlled by dimmers. "Huh... That's some mood setting." Chris muttered, Serenity perking up and giggling. "N-not what I'm trying to hint at!! N-not now anyways." he affirmed, poking his fingers embarrassed causing her to let out a "hrmph!" of frustration. "D-don't worry. We'll do... Some stuff, just wait for the right time." he assured, all three suddenly looking at him in surprise, Serenity and Rose blushing slightly as Alicia put her nose up. "I-I mean I'm talking about Serenity! Not you two, that is, I mean unless you... F-forget it!" he laughed nervously, feeling his own foot going further and further in his mouth as Rose looked slightly disappointed, Alicia raising an eyebrow and putting her nose up while Serenity went over to the canopy bed, surrounded by a red curtain with gold trim. Climbing on and shutting the curtains all around her, she let out a giggle before poking her head out, looking at Chris and giving him a kissy face causing him to jolt and scratch his cheek shyly, Rose and Alicia both showing a hint of jealous irritation in their expressions. "I like this room! Like a lot." Serenity winked, pulling her head back behind the curtain and letting out another giggle, this time muffled as she held one of the pillows against her face and rolled around. "Hooo boy. I get the feeling this is a room meant for honeymooners or something." he smiled nervously, walking up and looking over their electric fireplace with a flat screen hanging above it. "Alright, so where's the...?" he paused, noticing the curtains hanging on the wall across the room. "Ahh, there it is." he smirked, heading over and pulling them apart revealing a private balcony hanging out over the sea. "Girls! Come check this out!" he grinned, pulling the doors open and stepping out to enjoy the view of the sea.

"Ooohhh!! This is beautiful..." Rose said in awe while walking next to him and climbing up on the railing to enjoy the breeze, Alicia slithering her way over the railing as well while Serenity poked her head out from the curtains and walked up next to the others, looking around wide eyed as the sea shimmered before them, an occasional cool mist hitting them from the sea below. Smiling at the girls, Chris looked at Serenity, holding her cheek so she turned to him as he looked over her eye causing the Pokemon to blink at him and flush. "Still seeing everything clearly?" he asked, Serenity quickly nodding as he rubbed her cheek with a smile causing her to gulp. "I sure am glad you can see all this. It was worth it a hundred percent!" he grinned, leaning towards her and giving Serenity a kiss causing her to jolt in surprise, her hand clutching the rail as he pulled away leaving her eyes wide, her lips remaining puckered from the kiss. Turning to the others, he saw the jealousy in Alicia's expression while Rose sulked, the two looking at the ocean until he suddenly gave Alicia's tail a pinch and a quick tug. "OW!! Watch it you bru...!!" she barked, turning only for her lips to smack against his causing her tail to shoot up straight, her eyes as wide as Serenity's as he pulled away and laughed. "I didn't know YOU were the type to kiss a man out of the blue!" he grinned, having tricked the snake as she stuttered and quickly shook her head, raising a finger to say something only to bite her lip and turn away, looking over the ocean embarrassed with her tail twitching in frustration. "Ha ha, two down." he smiled, looking at Rose who had hidden her face behind her ears, the sight of him kissing the others leaving the rabbit feeling shy and flustered. Squatting down, he tapped her on the head, calling her name causing her to pull her ears apart like the curtains, Chris taking the chance to surprise her as well with a kiss of her own causing Rose's ears to shoot up straight in a flash, a bright flush on her face as he pulled away and gave her nose a poke. "Got you too!" he chuckled, standing as she looked up at him only to quickly pull her ears back in front of her face. "That's my girls." he smirked, rubbing them each on the head before looking out at the sea once again. After a moment, Serenity leaned against his side while Rose held his hand, keeping her other ear pulled shyly in front of her face as Alicia cleared her throat, lifting her chin. Accepting the offer, he nodding and started scratching underneath it, her spine trembling as a smile spread across her face.

After taking some time to enjoy the view and the breeze, the group returned to the room to look around some more, opening a door and discovering they had their own bathroom as well. "Check it out! It's another walk in shower!" Chris grinned, opening it and stepping inside. "Whoo... A big one too. And it comes with a bench! We can chill in this one without having to stand the whole time!" he added, having a seat and feeling over the smooth marble bench and slabs. There was also a claw foot tub in the room along with your usual amenities, the girls exploring before Rose poked her head into the shower and walked in, looking around and at Chris as he sat back with a relaxed look on his face. "So this is what it would be like?" she muttered, Chris sitting up with a "huh?" in response, only for the rabbit to jolt and laugh nervously before quickly leaving the shower, returning to the other room along with the others as he stood and followed as well. "Alright then, now that we've had a look around, let's put a few homey touches on this place!" he grinned, opening the beds curtains and lifting his rucksack onto the mattress, taking out the poster tube and rummaging inside until he found a box he had buried at the bottom. Watching curiously, the girls stood together as he opened the box and walked in front of the fireplace. "There's no way I was gonna just leave this stuff behind or let it get trashed. "he chuckled, taking out figure after figure from the cake the girls surprised him with and arranging them neatly on the mantle, causing their eyes to widen. "I really loved that part... Oh, and this was a good memory too!" he laughed as he finished organizing the figures, closing the box and backing away with a nod before opening the tube and shaking out the banner the girls had drawn up for him. Digging in his rucksack once more, he took out a small pack of tacks and returned to the fireplace, pulling up a chair before sticking one side to the wall then the other. "Theeeere we go! NOW this place feels like home. Hopefully the crew won't mind." he smirked, backing away once again and looking everything over as the girls looked at one another in surprise. "You actually kept all that?" Alicia asked. "It's so embarrassing. Look at our writing." Rose pointed out with a nervous smile. "Oh hush! I think this stuff is great! The best treasures a guy could have." he grinned, giving the girls a thumbs up before rubbing them on the heads. "I don't care about quality so long as the gift comes from the heart. That's what makes something valuable to me most of all. And since this stuff is my first gift from you girls, it's worth the world to me." he added, the three looking away embarrassed. "You womanizing dog." Alicia smirked, nudging his leg. "Says the temptress who likes to kiss a man out of the blue." he smirked, the snake jolting with a blush on her face. "That was a trick and you KNOW it! Besides YOU'RE the one who randomly kissed all THREE of us!" she reminded, Chris sticking his tongue out at her and bending down to give the snake a soft noogie as she faced away grumbling. "Aww you know I love you. Don't be so serious." he chuckled, nudging Alicia before standing up, the snake looking back with a sigh and a nod. "Alright then... Enough of hanging around in here. We can enjoy the room later on, we've still got the entire ship to explore just about!" he reminded the three causing them to perk up and nod in agreement.

Heading out of the room, the group returned to the staircase, only for Chris to wind up distracted by the extravagant foyer before walking right into the cherub at the bottom of the steps, stumbling back only for Serenity and Rose to catch him before he fell. "Man, gotta stop doing that." he groaned, the girls looking at one another with nervous smiles as he walked up to the statue, looking it over as it gazed down at him. "Don't see any damage, that's good." he sighed, jolting as he looked up and his eyes met the statues. "S-sorry about that." he apologized with a nervous wave, the girls raising their eyebrows and tilting their heads bewildered. "The oaf must have run into it harder than we thought." Alicia muttered. With a sigh, Serenity and Rose walked up and pulled him along, guiding up the stairs while patting his back. "There there, it okay. We got you." Serenity assured him as he blinked at the two confused. "What's the deal? I'm fine!" he replied as Alicia climbed atop his shoulders. "No bumps or anything. I guess he's just weirder than I thought." she shrugged. "H-hey!! What's with that statement?! How am I weird?!" he asked, pulling away from the two in irritation. "You were talking to that statue..." Rose pointed out with a nervous smile. "O-oh, that. Something about it was just a bit, I dunno... Intimidating maybe? Eerie? Just seeing it looking down at me like that, plus it's a statue of a cherub so it kinda feels like bad luck running into it like that, didn't wanna leave it disrespected." he replied, the girls looking at one another all the more confused. "Humans sure have some weird stuff they're afraid of." Rose said, the others nodding in agreement. "Afraid of statue. Not understand." Serenity added. "Not afraid of it! Just didn't want to disre... Oh never mind." he sighed, waving his hand as they walked out onto the deck, looking around at the crowds of people and Pokemon alike exploring the new liner as well. "Geez, if you didn't know any better you'd think all of Millennium City got on board this thing." he muttered, the girls nodding in agreement. "Looks like I'm far from the only one wanting to focus on the outside of the ship at the moment. Did you girls notice there weren't many below deck?" he asked, the three thinking about it for a moment. "Well naturally, we ARE in the first class section of the ship. You don't have as many humans here as you'll find throughout the other sections. All part of being FIRST class, no hustle and bustle, nobody running into you. You could say we own the part of the ship below here. Only the most extravagant of passengers are allowed in OUR sections." she explained with a smirk and her head held high. "Ha ha, you definitely sound proud. I'm glad." Chris chuckled, rubbing her head causing the snake to blush slightly before nodding and brushing his cheek with her tail. "I suppose I should say even if we weren't first class, I'd still be rather pleased with this voyage thus far. You chose well indeed." she praised with a thumbs up, getting a grin from him in response. "Coming from you that's awesome!" he replied as Serenity rolled her eyes and Rose giggled as she watched the two enjoy their moment, Alicia giving him a rub against the cheek with her own before smirking slyly and doing something new, suddenly nudging the tip of her snout behind his ear and flickering her tongue rapidly causing Chris to jolt and snicker before bursting out in laughter, urging her to stop while trying to nudge her face away, only for Alicia to dodge his hand and tease his ear at random spots before finally backing her head away with a chuckle. "I do love you, no matter how much of a hopeless oaf you may be." she smirked as Chris rubbed his ear with a sigh of relief, looking at her and smiling with a nod, Serenity and Rose both blinking in surprise at her comment causing Alicia to scowl and turn her nose up. "Oh do mind your own business. I'm allowed a moment from time to time as well." she told the two. "Well, you can't blame em' since you don't say stuff like that very much or show that side of yourself." Chris replied, the snake jolting and about to say something with an irritated look on her face only for Chris to hold her snout shut causing her eyes to widen in surprise. "BUT, that makes it all the more special when you do. It really makes me feel like I've done a good job at making your life better when I see you so happy. In that way you're just like a queen in my opinion since they always stay so calm and reclusive too, so when you tell me your feelings and show me affection it really makes me feel like the luckiest guy in the world." he smiled, the snake blushing and remaining silent as he pulled his hand away. "In short, I love my Queen Alicia too!" he chuckled with a nod causing her jolt and flush all the more before turning away shyly. "You're such a...." she replied, going silent and keeping her face turned from his while brushing his cheek affectionately with her tail, Serenity grumbling out of jealousy while Rose let out a quiet "aww" and nodded.

Walking along the deck, the group found several pools, each with their own water slides and countless stands for classes of every level to enjoy, a service to ensure passengers always had a drink and a snack at arms length wherever they roamed on the top deck, with waiters roaming about serving the first class passengers as well. "Man, it just goes on and on huh?" Chris said as they continued walking along. "I find it impressive myself, plus it's nice to be able to enjoy the sun so clearly aboard the ship." Alicia replied, taking in the rays with a sigh. "I like big bathtubs!" Serenity smiled as they passed another pool. "Oh, those aren't bathtubs. They're called pools! Lots of people swim in them just to have fun together." Chris explained, rubbing her on the head as she looked at the people jumping in and swimming about. "Oh, okay then. I like big pools!" she giggled, Alicia groaning and shaking her head while Rose sniffed the air, a sudden dazed look on her face. Seeing this, Chris raised an eyebrow and looked around, noticing some of the waiters carrying around platters of tiny sandwiches stuffed with vegetables. Smiling with a nod, he walked up to one of them and took several in his arms, thanking the man as he looked at Chris in surprise while watching him return to the girls, giving Alicia a sandwich along the way. "Alright then, who wants a bite to eat?" he grinned, handing some to Rose and Serenity while nibbling on one himself. "Ooohhh, they taste as good as they smelled!" Rose replied wide eyed, suddenly stuffing one in her mouth and shuddering from the taste, Serenity looking at one of hers before taking a bite and jolting in surprise. "Wow, really good." she agreed, Chris and Alicia nodding as they started walking again. "I think it's the sauce they used more than anything. Then again the vegetables are seriously fresh too. I don't usually eat many of these kind of sandwiches but I'll admit, we might go for seconds later!" he chuckled.

Heading back towards the bow of the ship, Chris and the girls climbed several sets of stairs leading to higher decks, some requiring a class check eventually leading them to an open entrance near a balcony overlooking the bow where they could hear several people talking. "Take her to sea Mr. Murdoch! Keep the girl steady at 14 knots for a while longer. We're in no hurry. We can pick up speed and stretch her legs in a few hours, so for now just let her cruise." they heard the voice of the captain command, followed by an "aye, captain!" in response. "I think this is the bridge. Wanna pay a visit?" Chris asked the girls, getting a nod before going inside and looking around. At the windows, Captain Rostron stood by another elderly man, both holding a cup while one of the waiters served them as the man called Murdoch stood at the helm, proudly steering the ship along her way as the officers took charge of the various controls. Noticing him, the waiter tapped the captains shoulder and pointed out the group, Rostron nodding and giving a quick thanks before walking up. "Well now, good to see you lad! Welcome aboard the bridge. Might I interest you in a quick introduction?" he asked, the group looking at one another and nodding. "As you know, many aboard this vessel are descendants of those who were lost aboard the Arceanic so long ago, and naturally that doesn't pertain solely to the passengers! The helmsman steering us along here is Mr. Murdoch the II, named after the first officer aboard the ship. Over by the window we have my chief officer, Mr. Smith the III, descendant and spitting image of the Arceanic captain himself!" he explained, Mr. Murdoch nodding at the group as Chief Smith waved. Introducing the other officers, totaling seven, the group shook their hands and bowed in respect before Rostron walked them up to the window, allowing them to enjoy the view of the bow below as countless people roamed about, the ship itself gliding its way across the vast sea before them. "Ooohhh pretty." Serenity muttered. "A breathtaking view for the captain, as is expected." Alicia nodded. Noticing Rose having to pull herself up for a view, Chris suddenly reached down and lift the rabbit into his arms, causing her to let out a surprised shout and look at him with a flush on her face before looking out the windows as well, her eyes going wide as she leaned towards the glass. "The humans look so small from up here." she pointed out. "How interesting..." Chief Smith muttered, walking up to the group and looking the girls over. "How is it they can all speak our language? Forgive the rudeness, but this is incredible." he asked, shaking the girls hands with a nod. "Oh! That's thanks to this genius right here!" Chris grinned, pulling Serenity against his side proudly causing her eyes to widen in surprise. "She basically creates this bubble around her so that other Pokemon can use telepathy just like her! It doesn't work if they get separated though, but as long as these girls are together they can carry a conversation until your mouth falls off." he chuckled, patting Serenity on the back causing her to smile embarrassed and poke her fingers shyly. "Not genius. It simple, but thank you!" she replied, waving her hand at Chris while the captain and his crew looked at the girls impressed. "So she's found a way to share telepathic abilities with other Pokemon eh? Dear girl if that isn't worthy of calling you a genius I don't know what is!" Chief Smith praised, the crew nodding in agreement causing the already flattered Pokemon to grin from ear to ear. "Ha ha, we'd better stop. I try not to spoil them too much, even though I kiiiiinda tend to find myself doing just that." Chris told the men while putting Rose down.

Offering to walk with the group on the bridges balcony for a moment, Chris accepted and followed Captain Rostron and Chief Smith outside, enjoying the breeze together as the two looked around. "No sign of danger whatsoever and the clearest of skies above. A sea as smooth as butter and a breeze as soothing as a mothers lullaby, what a fine day to set sail." Smith chuckled, Rostron nodding in agreement. "About the bridge lad..." he paused, looking back at the group. "It's actually based off the bridge aboard the Arceanic! Although the main difference is ours doesn't have a wheelhouse built into it, rather the helm and controls are in a single room and the telegraphs are mainly just for display. Although they COULD be used if necessary should our normal means of communication fail. Not likely though." he explained. "So tell us, what do you know about ships?" Chief Smith asked, raising an eyebrow at Chris as he thought over the question. "Well, you've got the bow up front, stern in the back... Also called fore and aft respectively. Floors are usually called decks. There aren't any ceilings, instead they're usually called overheads." he replied. "You've got the port side, that is, left. Then you've got starboard, which means right. You guys were talking about the ship going 14 knots, and that stands for 16 mph basically. And judging by the ships size and modern tech, I'd say it can go up to maybe 30 knots, 34 mph total? It would probably take a little pushing though. As far as right now, I'd say we're headed..." he paused, feeling the breeze and licking a finger. "Windward, or upwind since it's pushing against us." he added, the two looking at him wide eyed before facing one another. "I'll be, he's right." Chief Smith muttered. "Where did you learn this from?" Rostron asked. "Oh, back at the village I came from there were PLENTY of sailors and captains. I learned so much stuff from them over the years I can't really list it all very well. Stuff about survival, some artistic stuff like sculpting and photography, and ships go into that list too! I could probably sail one myself someday. But being honest, that's not really something I consider a calling. It takes a heck of a person to do that kind of thing, and I don't think I could ever manage something like THIS." he laughed nervously, waving his hand as the two smirked. After a moment, the waiter in the bridge walked out onto the balcony an offered to refill the captain and chiefs cups, offering Chris and the girls a drink as well as they enjoyed the view and chat together. Eventually, other first class passengers began arriving wanting to meet the crew in the bridge as well, the captain and chief having to bid Chris and the girls farewell as a result before heading off to greet their other wealthy guests. "My my, will you never cease to amaze?" Alicia asked, patting him on the head. "You know lots about ship. Not know anything you talk about." Serenity added, looking at him in surprise as Rose laughed nervously. "I was lost, but you did sound really smart!" she praised with a nod. "Nah. I just know the basic stuff, trust me. Most of the stuff I know, pretty much everyone knows. I did get a little cocky though I'll admit. Hard not to when you're talking to the people in charge of this thing!" he chuckled, looking into the bridge through the windows as security kept watch on the visitors, only allowing one in at a time and ensuring none of the crew was bothered. "Huh, they didn't have any security follow us." Chris pointed out. "True, I don't really see the captain interacting with them much either, asides a handshake. I suppose it's because of how many are waiting in line." Alicia shrugged. "Well, we'd better head back down. We don't need to stick around when they've got work to do, especially now that the passengers are getting their time in the bridge too. Gotta show our respect after how nice they were!" he told the girls, Alicia jumping off the rail and back over his shoulders as Rose held his hand and Serenity wrapped an arm around his, the three making their way down onto the main deck and looking around. "I feel like more of those sandwiches! Wadaya say?" he asked, the girls perking up with a nod as they made their way along.

For the rest of the day, the group enjoyed their time continuing to explore every nook and cranny of the upper decks, trying out the snacks and drinks at various stands, relaxing near the pools and pointing out the various slides they could try out, even taking a nap together in the evening when Chris dozed off in one of the lounge chairs while looking at the setting sun, the sound of the ocean and the breeze lulling him to sleep. Seeing this, the girls joining him, with Rose and Serenity cuddled up against his sides, each with an arm and leg over him while Alicia laid on his torso sprawled out on her back, taking in the remaining sun as she snoozed and drooled on herself. For some time the group remained this way, soundly sleeping into the night only to find themselves woken by the sudden sound of something exploding in the sky. Shooting up as if they'd been shot, they looked around bewildered for a moment, seemingly forgetting where they were until they saw several lights shoot into the sky from the middle of the ship, exploding in the air one by one as Chris groaned and flopped back down. "Fireworks... That scared the crap out of me." he yawned, rubbing his eyes with another groan as the girls watched in silence, jolting whenever one shot up and going wide eyed when it exploded in the sky. "Have you girls never seen fireworks?" he asked, only for them to remain silent with their backs to him, shaking their heads as more shot into the sky. Looking around, he took out his Pokedex and fidget with it for a moment, getting the time to display as he sat back up. "Man, didn't mean to conk out like that. We just wasted several hours." he grumbled, standing before putting the Pokedex back in his pocket and stretching. "Well, at least now we can see what the ship is like at night. Ready to go on another stroll girls?" he asked, finding himself ignored as they continued watching the fireworks show as if hypnotized. Smirking in response, he picked up his staff and stood with his other hand in his pocket, enjoying the show alongside them until it was finally over, after which the girls chattered excitedly in their own tongues, unknowingly forgetting about Chris in the moment as he laughed nervously and waved at them. "Still here you know! Earth to girls, calling all girls!" he shout, causing them to jolt and blink at him in response. "S, sorry!! Was just really pretty!!" Serenity panicked. "Pardon for being distracted, I've just never witnessed such an extraordinary show before. I've seen such a thing on TV, but in person it's quite different." Alicia added, looking around at the dark sky. "It really was neat! I never got to see something like that when I was with..." Rose paused, going silent for a moment before rubbing the back of her head with a nervous laugh. "I-it was just amazing! Couldn't resist watching it." she finished, Chris raising an eyebrow at her before letting out a sigh and shaking his head, smiling while reaching out and rubbing her on the head. "Alright, alright. I'm glad you girls loved it so much. No sad thoughts now." he replied, giving the rabbit a peck on the forehead causing her to jolt as he helped Alicia atop his shoulders and Serenity stand, offering a hand to Rose as well. "Now lets have ourselves a look-see at this place at night. You think those fireworks were great, I bet this place looks awesome in the dark!" he grinned, Rose looking up at him for a moment before showing a wide smile and nodding, taking his hand before strolling away together.

"Ooohhh, look at pools!" Serenity point out, the illuminated water glowing before them, the water slides lit up via spotlights as well. Looking up, Chris pointed out the transparent tubular slides shimmering as water rushed through them, Rose smelling food from nearby stands and pointing out their decorations lit up in the dark, each featuring a tiny chandelier within above the staffs head shimmering as well. "They put detail into everything here..." Chris muttered, walking up to one of the stalls and looking over all the decorations. "Are you hungry sir?" the waiter asked. "Oh! No sir, just looking over all the lights." Chris laughed while waving his hand. "Pardon me, but you're first class, are you not?" he asked, pointing at the portion of his ticket sticking out from his coat pocket. "Yeah, why? We're not supposed to come into other class stands?" he asked. "Oh, n-no sir! That isn't the issue. As you might have noticed, many of our first class passengers aren't with us at the moment, they've gone to the large stage on the upper decks. We feature a variety of arrangements and each night the captain attends, hand picking a select few of our first class guests to decide special songs to be performed. You should hurry up and enjoy the entertainment yourself sir!" the waiter explained, the group looking at one another before nodding in response. "The stage huh? I remember when we passed that, lets go check it out!" he suggested, the girls nodding once again and waving at the waiter before heading for the stairs. "I dunno though, first class being the way it is and all, I probably won't know any of the songs they perform." Chris laughed nervously. "I may be of the high class type myself, but I've got no idea what you humans listen to so I'm not much help either I'm afraid." Alicia shrugged. "He say captain picks few people. Don't think you get picked since so many humans here, so not need to worry." Serenity assured, patting him on the back as they reached the deck where the stadium was. "Alright then, lets see here..." he muttered, trying to find his way around until walking into guards standing in their path. "We're sorry sir, but this section is restricted to first class only for the time being. May we see your pass?" one of the women asked. "O-oh! Yeah, sure thing." he replied, taking out his paperwork. "Is it one of those?" he asked, the guard going through them before nodding. "Yes, this right here. Alright, you may pass. Please proceed along the deck and turn at that far right down the way." she instructed, returning his papers as they went past. "Boy, they make sure people don't go where they're not supposed to." he smiled nervously, folding his papers before returning them to his pocket. "Naturally! You don't want lower classes intruding where they're not supposed to!" Alicia smirked, Chris giving her a scowl. "That statement rubs me the wrong way." he muttered, the snake jolting and poking her fingers. "B-beg pardon, I suppose that was rather rude." she replied. "You suppose?" he lectured, raising an eyebrow. "Alright, alright! I'm sorry!" she barked, crossing her arms and facing away in frustration as Serenity shook her head and Rose smiled nervously. "Come on now, forgive and forget." the rabbit told the two. Looking down at her, Chris smirked and rubbed her on the head before looking at Alicia and poking her cheek. "Okay, okay. Don't worry about it." he told the snake, Alicia glancing at him and letting out a sigh with a nod in response. Continuing on, the group finally reached the large stage built onto the ship, with most of the first class passengers sitting in the surrounding seats while the ships musicians prepped on stage for the performances. "Wow, these people really show up when told." Chris muttered in surprise. "That's how people are in higher classes, mannerisms and such always come first and foremost. If something is scheduled, you're always on time." Alicia replied, the group searching for a seat. Heading for the stage, they managed to find some towards the front, sitting together with Alicia remaining on his shoulders while looking around. "Being honest, I highly doubt we're the ONLY ones who get to enjoy the place, they probably have stuff scheduled for other classes too otherwise it really wouldn't be right. I think it's just first class that probably get really fancy music compared to the other classes, it would probably bore them." he said as the lights suddenly went off on the stage and a spotlight flashed on showing Captain Rostron walking on stage.

"Honored guests, it's a pleasure to welcome you to tonight's performance! As you know, our first class passengers get to enjoy a unique experience, one where YOU get to decide what is played for all to enjoy! A grand show with your own personal taste put in to wow your fellow men and women among us each night! As captain of the S.S. Guardian it will be yours truly who decides which lucky passengers get to pick what is performed, and with that out of the way..." he paused, walking along the stage while looking over the crowd. After a moment, he picked a little girl to decide the first song, surprising the audience as she shyly had the captain come close to hear her request. With a nod, he returned to the stage and had the crew program the musicians individual screens to show the song chosen, all of them smiling and chuckling quietly as the composer tapped his baton on the pedestal. The first song turned out to be Stroll by Joe Hisaishi, a tune that made many listening smile and laugh while showing reminiscent expressions of their childhoods, Serenity and Rose grinning at the upbeat tune as Alicia rolled her eyes, a song that was followed by Beethoven's Fur Elise chosen by one of the elderly men in the crowd that made everyone slowly look as though at peace, silently swaying to the music as Rose and Serenity quietly yawned, Chris's eyes admittedly drooping as well while Alicia smiled and slowly swayed her head the same as the audience. Eventually, several songs had been chosen, the captain returning to the stage to announce the time had come for the final performance. "Man, it's weird when you've got people picking their own music, the mood gets really mixed up. Still, it's not bad stuff though." Chris muttered, the girls nodding in agreement. "All of it's certainly enjoyable. It's a fabulous chance to learn what kind of pleasures are out there for the finer souls in life to enjoy." Alicia nodded. "I liked the first one!" Rose added, shooting her hand up with a giggle. "I think all music sound nice. Not have favorite." Serenity told the group, looking at all of the musicians and their instruments. Looking at her, Chris smirked and gave her a nudge. "You know, after listening to all this, I think I'm in the mood to hear you play a song for me when we get back to the room! Sound good?" he grinned, giving Serenity a thumbs up causing her to blush and fidget shyly. "Not as good as humans on stage." she replied. "Oh please, I think you sound great, and you're only getting better." he assured, patting her on the head as a spotlight suddenly flashed on over them. "And we have our final guest chosen to determine the last song of the night! Care to tell us what you would like to hear lad?" the captain asked, Chris and the girls freezing up before looking up at the captain, Chris blinking in surprise and pointing at himself. "Yes you! Please, tell us what you would like our fine passengers to enjoy." he replied as Chris looked around nervously. "Umm... I don't really know any good music for this kind of crowd, but uh, I guess there's one that KINDA suits the situation." he replied, the captain tilting his head. "Well then? Come on, out with it lad." Rostron said, motioning for Chris to come up to say what he wanted. Looking at the girls, he started blushing nervously while standing and walking up to the stage, leaving Alicia in his seat while motioning for the captain to lend an ear as he made his request. Hearing Chris out, Rostron looked at the crowd and lowered his mic, covering it with his hand while they spoke and seemingly concerned as Chris smiled nervously while speaking. After a moment, the captain looked at the crowd once again and back at him, giving a reluctant nod before clearing his throat in the mic. "Ladies and gentlemen, it would appear that for our last performance, we'll be allowing this young man to play a special song for all of us." he told the crowd, causing them to look at one another and murmur amongst themselves, the girls looking at one another in surprise. Looking at Chris with concern on his face, the captain had the musician sitting at the piano back away, the spotlight flashing on over the instrument while the musicians had their screens programmed once again, causing them to look at one another bewildered and shrug as the captain set up his mic on the piano before getting off stage himself.

As the musicians started playing, Chris took a deep breath and walked up to the piano, sitting before looking at the crowd and the girls, all of them bewildered as he hovered his trembling fingers over the keys. "Alright Chris, just like the elders taught you." he murmured as the captain stood by the stage. "Please know how to play." he begged with his hands together. With a confident nod, Chris began playing when the composer gave him his cue, his notes causing lights to shoot up from the stage in unison, giving everyone a light show causing the crowds eyes to widen, the girls dropping their jaws in shock and chatting with one another in excitement before watching and grinning from ear to ear as the musicians backed him up before he was given another cue to start singing. "Oceans apa-art, day after da-ay, and I slowly go- insane." he began. Watching him perform and hearing his voice, Captain Rostron went wide eyed in surprise himself, looking at the crowd as their expressions turned from confused and angered to touched and impressed. "I'll be, he's actually pretty good!" he muttered, smirking as he noticed the impressed looks on the composer and musicians faces as well, quickly motioning for his crew to come over. "Wherever you go, whatever you do, I will be right here waiting for you." Chris continued, smiling at the girls causing them to shoot up and flush brightly. After a moment of listening, Rostron began giving his crew countless commands while rushing them about as couples in the audience started cuddling up together and swooning over the song. With the crew working like clockwork behind the scenes, the crowd suddenly gasped and pointed in surprise as the huge display over the stage flashed on, showing a close-up of Chris as the remote controlled cameras began gliding along the beams, making the scene rotate around him and fade between various still views, the lights continuing to glow along with his notes. Noticing the girls, Rostron had his crew go up to them and invite them on stage with Chris, the group looking at one another nervously before nodding and slowly walking up together as he kept singing. "Oh can't you see- it baby? You've got me go-in crazy!" he continued, looking at the girls as they stepped into the spotlight shyly, Serenity and Rose fidgeting while Alicia climbed on top of the piano, sitting as the others did the same. The more he played and sang for them, the more the girls swooned, leaning closer to him as Serenity and Rose smiled while tearing up together, Alicia smirking and raising an eyebrow until Chris nuzzled his nose against hers causing the snake to shoot back and flush with her tail straight up. "I wonder how we can survi-ve, this roma-nce." he sang, poking Rose's nose. "But in the end if I'm with you, I'll ta-ke the cha-nce!" he added, winking at Serenity before giving her a surprise kiss, the others getting a kiss as well causing all three of them to flush wide eyed as one of the musicians walked up during his solo, waltzing around them as he played. "This one's for you girls, hope ya like it. Love ya!" he grinned while playing his notes, the three flushing and about to respond only for Chris to shoot his hand up and shake his head before singing again. "Oh can't you see- it ba-by? You've got me go-in' cra-zy!" he grinned, singing his next line as all three of them started tearing up this time, sniffling as he continued his performance. In the audience, countless people were reacting just the same, trying to keep their emotions steady while holding onto one another as the song began wrapping up, the captain and his crew nodding impressed while looking over the cameras recording the event as the girls started wiping tears from their eyes, Chris going into a solo of his own as the composer grinned and nodded proudly, the musicians smiling warmly as well while they reached their final notes, Chris singing his final "waiting for you..." line and smiling lovingly at the girls as the music slowly fade to silence.

Once the sound was gone completely, Chris let out a relieved sigh before standing and looking at the audience, smiling nervously and waving. "I uh, hope I didn't waste your money folks, sorry if it wasn't too goo...!!" he paused, cut off as the crowd suddenly stood and began applauding and whistling, the captain walking onto the stage and grabbing his hand for an energetic shake. "Lad that was incredible!! I'm certainly glad I let you perform! Well done, well done indeed!!" he laughed, slapping Chris on the back as he looked around in surprise. "Y-yeah? It was good?" he grinned, rubbing the back of his head with a slight blush from the applaud and praise combined. "What about you girls? Did you li-AGH?!!" he shout, cut off again as all tree jumped into him sending them all to the floor as they cuddled and kissed him all over the face, save for Alicia who stuck with lovingly teasing his ears with her snout and tongue. "I think that means they definitely liked it!" Captain Rostron grinned, joining the applaud by clapping himself. "AND it's not just the first class who enjoyed your show! It was so good we broadcast it throughout the ship, and everybody's going crazy!" he revealed, the girls backing away as he had the crew show various parts of the deck and the ships lobbies on the huge display above them, revealing the countless passengers applauding the show. Seeing this, Chris went wide eyed and laughed nervously. "Oh man, seriously? Like, EVERYBODY on here just saw that? Oh geeze captain that was a dirty trick!" he replied as the girls started hugging him all over again. "It had to be done! That was extraordinary for a passenger to perform so well for those aboard! This is a grand memory to keep of the Guardians maiden voyage! Really glad to have you aboard lad!" he laughed again, offering another handshake before taking the mic and asking for another round of applause as Chris stood, waving at everybody as Serenity and Rose stood with him, cuddling his sides as Alicia slithered over his shoulders and around his neck, giving his cheek affectionate rubs with her own. "Oh man, the whole ship watched me play and sing like an amateur. That's embarrassing!" he laughed as they walked off the stage, Rostron giving everybody another thanks as they made their way away past the crowd, people offering handshakes and compliments as they walked past. "My my, an impressive show young man!" they heard a familiar voice say, turning to see Victoria, with Sally wheeling up next to her nodding. "That was so romantic! And what happened between you and your Pokemon at the end was just adorable!" she added. "Ah man, you two as well? Come on, it wasn't that great! Seriously I'm just an amateur!" he replied, waving his hand embarrassed yet blushing from the flattery nonetheless. "That's pretty much the only song I know how to play, so believe me I'm really nothing special." he added, thanking them for the compliments nonetheless. "Well, whoever taught you how to play that song really knew what they were doing. You did very well." Victoria replied with a bow. "Thanks for the show! The rest of it was really good but what you did was the perfect cherry on the cake." Sally giggled.

Thanking them once more, Chris and the girls bid their farewells to the two before continuing their journey back to the lower decks, Serenity and Rose continuing to cuddle and swoon at his sides as Alicia nodded at him proudly with a thumbs up, the group getting an occasional whistle and wave from random passengers as they made their way back to their room...

Off To A New Adventure...
S.S. Guardian - Grand Staircase Plaque
Some time ago, a young man named Chris, now 23, discovered he was chosen to carry a curse passed onto him through his bloodline by a Ninetails his grandfather saved long ago, having grabbed its sacred tails to save it from falling to its demise. Burdened with this fate, which the young man now calls a blessing, Chris accepts the life chosen for him and allows the curse to guide him freely in life, destined to forever put others before himself, to forever follow the path the curse guides him along towards those in need most...

Along his journey thus far, Chris has come across a Ralts who was abandoned by her former trainer for being blind, hurled off the edge of a cliff and left to die that has since evolved into a full fledged Gardevoir by his side, swearing her life to the young man with the mysterious and terrifying ability to use the power of a Shadow Pokemon, granting her the title of a mysterious new Shadow Hybrid... Also traveling by his side is a Snivy who has since become a Servine, abandoned by her former trainer for refusing to evolve after a terrifying battle she had with a Serperior that left her mentally scarred, resulting in her former trainer neglecting and starving her in an attempt to persuade her to evolve, until he finally left her to die as well followed by a Buneary who has since evolved into Lopunny, who's former trainer became enraged due to her refusal to battle and tried to kill her off when he discovered she could only evolve via friendship...

Chris has met many people and Pokemon alike along his journey, each left as inspired by his presence as the last... He's nearly sacrificed himself to save Gardevoir and Servine from a deadly attack by a pack of Houndoom, lead by a Mega formed leader by hurling himself off a cliff to catch the two and nearly dying... Resulting in his lengthy stay in a location called Millennium City where he provided a hospital full of children an awe inspiring play room full of wonders any child would adore... Saved thousands of Pokemon eggs from dying out when their colossal incubation system malfunctioned in one of the cities many centers, and it's the location he saved Lopunny when she was a Buneary from being struck by a massive truck after being hurled into the highway by her former trainer... He's met and inspired a kindhearted old butler named Gerald who served the group during their stay in the city, and even came across the mysterious N from the Pokemon series, inspiring even this strange person during his stay in the city resulting in Chris being deemed a man worthy of keeping an eye on...

Most recently, Chris had become a criminal during his efforts to free Lopunny from her former trainer altogether, having forced his way into the city's top prison the man was held within and taking not only the Pokeball belonging to Lopunny, but taking all of his other Pokeballs to free the Pokemon within them as well only to discover the mans father was the Warden of that very prison in the process. Finding himself intrigued by Chris, the Warden gave him a chance to avoid prison time by revealing he was also the city's Gym Leader, striking a deal that if he won he would be pardoned of all crimes and allowed to leave the city.

Before the day of the match arrived, Chris found himself becoming close friends with the city's top scientist, Professor Rose, and together along with her staff they managed to complete Project Celebi, a device that could transplant sight between two people without surgery! The project turned out to be a success after Chris offered the sight in his left eye to give Gardevoir the ability to see the world for the first time via her right!

After this, the time for his showdown with the Warden arrived, and after a lengthy two part battle, Chris turned out the victor with the support of all those attending the event and beyond... To thank them for fighting for his sake, Chris gave Gardevoir, Servine, and Lopunny their own unique names, gaining the titles Serenity, Alicia, and Rose respectively, with Lopunny being named after the professor who had done so much for the group during their stay in the city...

Now, after regaining his freedom and spending a week at Arthur and Angela's massive manor on the outskirts of the city, Chris has finally bid everyone a fond and tearful farewell, having set sail across the sea as a first class passenger aboard the brand new S.S. Guardian, the first pollutant free ship in the world relying solely on solar power reservoirs currently making its way along its maiden voyage on a seven day trip to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the loss of the legendary R.M.S. Arceanic, the unsinkable ship that mysteriously vanished without a trace after a single message calling for help was sent one fateful night long, long ago...

Very well done indeed :P that last LWR, the song, that went really well with the chapter I think. Had to read a little quicker during that time to match up with the song, but I honestly think that is the best LWR that has been suggested so far, the way parts of the song matched up with part of the speech, truly brilliant :D

Looking forward to the next chapter, keep at it! :)

I know this joke is bad by did the R.M.S. Caterpithia not make it in time cus it was to busy using string shot?

Great read! The second LWR is obviously the biggest highlight of this Chapter. Luckily it was not that hard to find the right timing while reading, after realizing how you implemented the lyrics.
And again Chris managed to attract everyone's attention, haha. I just wonder, what else the old people have taught him while he reveals more and more of himself. Looks like 10 years helping them resulted in very special abilities.

The talk about the missing R.M.S. Arceanic without any found pieces made me interested in the ship all the more.

Naturally. Since he spent most of his childhood in the village, then moved in around 16, he's learned much from his time there since it was basically a retirement village, akin to the village in the Orre Region basically.

As far as the Arceanic, all things in due time. Much will remain the same, but certain things will be different as well. Naturally being a tribute it shouldn't smear the original, yet at the same time it should be unique enough to impress in the right ways.

I can't wait to see what you have planned.

Great chapter. You really used the setting well to set the mood and it's very easy to picture it.
Everyone seems very accepting of Chris' relationship with his pokemon. But I get the feeling there would be some sort of stigma against it. It would be interesting to have Chris and the girls have to deal with someone approaching them, having been disgusted over their behaviour.
